Magic Kingdom
We got to Disney World every day so we know what it’s like to want to bring the essentials. We are sharing with you, our readers, the top 10 things you need for your Disney World trip. We are giving you our must-have list and we’re going to tell you why we love these items for our trip. So, let’s look at the top 10 things you need for your Disney World vacation!
1. Rainy Day Gear
Don’t be caught off guard on your Disney vacation when it rains. In Florida, it can rain often and seemingly out of nowhere. So we always recommend being prepared for a rain storm. Our favorite reusable ponchos are these Frogg Togg ones.
We love this one because it is breathable, which is important for that Florida heat. It comes with a carrying pouch making it easy to roll up and stick it in your bag without getting everything wet. Our reporters can even wear their park bags under them so they are roomy enough to keep everything dry. We also love the price point on these especially compared to the ponchos you can buy inside the parks, these are a fraction of the cost!
But what about your shoes? Don’t worry, we got you covered! These shoe covers are the perfect way to keep your feet dry on a rainy day.
These waterproof shoe covers have a tight tread mechanism design of the sole providing slip resistance. Our team loves that they are lightweight too making them easy to walk around in. They are also flexible, making them easy to store in your bag.
2. A Reliable Portable Charger
On your Disney World trip, you will be using your phone a lot. Not only to take photos and videos to capture the moment, but you will also use the MyDisney app to check wait times, mobile order food, look at the map, check your Lightning Lane reservations, and more. You will want to have a good portable charger and we have a few favorites we have used.
First, the Multicharger for MagicBand+ and other portable devices is great for charging multiple things at once.
We use it to charge our phone, our other external power bank, and our MagicBand+ all at once. We love how easy it is and it only takes up one outlet so you don’t have to fight with your party for charging space.
Another one of our trusted chargers is FuelRod. We love the convenience these offer with having free refillable stations throughout every Disney Parks and Resorts.
This means you don’t have to panic when your phone battery and power bank are both dead. You simply go to a kiosk to exchange it for another one. These are small and compact making it easy to toss in your park bag.
Finally, the INIU power bank is “the market’s one and only 0.5-inch power bank that breaks the limit of 10000mAh”.
We love how slim this power bank is and how quickly it will charge our phones. With over 50,000 5-star reviews on Amazon, we have to agree this portable charger is a must for Disney World.
3. Stay Cool
Between the heat and the humidity in Disney World, you have to stay cool. You will be in the sun a lot so here are our favorite tools to stay cool.
This Jisulife Mini Fan is compact but does work well enough to cool us down.
The fan unfolds for use and has three different levels. That top speed seriously moves some air — this can be SO helpful when you’re sweating it out in the parks. The battery life on this fan is pretty incredible as well. Multiple members of our team own them, and we’ve found that they can often last us through several park days on a single charge.
This multi-pack of Sukeen Cooling Towels is so helpful during those really hot days.
The microfiber cloths use a combination of evaporation and absorption to keep your body cool while you’re wearing them. All you do is head to the bathroom, wet it in the sink, and snap it to activate the cooling effect. We also love the multi-pack so that you can use it for multiple members of your party.
A hands-free way to keep cool is a neck fan, like this Jisulife one.
When we tested these, the fan ended up lasting us a little over halfway through my park day running on high. It has three speeds and the highest of those three is the best for keeping cool, plus it’s not much louder than the lower speeds. Just wear your hair up if you go this route!
4. Reliable Backpack
We huff it through Disney World daily, on our own adventures, with our families, and for work, so we know a thing or two about what qualifies for the best backpack to take to Disney World.
The Loungefly Mini Backpacks, like this Minnie Mouse Faux Leather one, are a Disney fan favorite.
We love that you can pick your favorite character design, bring a different one for each park, and live your best Disney-loving life! Loungeflys are quintessential Disney bags and can hold the basics for a successful Disney World trip.
This bag organizer is the perfect way to easily access everything in your bag without having to dig through it and it is the perfect size for the Loungefly mini backpacks.
We love the amount of pockets this organizer has and it gives us a place for all of our favorite essentials. It also makes it easy to pull out the organizer with all of our items in it and transfer it to another Loungefly when we want to change bags on our trip.
5. Festival Essentials
There seems to be a festival almost every week of the year now at EPCOT, so you can always look forward to celebrating something there with food, drinks, and entertainment. We have a few essentials that make our festival days even better.
This Silicone Reusable Straw Set is the best way around those paper straws Disney has. In case you didn’t know, Disney World exclusively uses paper straws now, but we found that those start to break down in our drinks.
We love that these come with cases that you can easily store them in as well as cleaning brushes. We find these perfect for our iced coffees, smoothies, and all beverages.
We swear by this Reusable Utensil Set for festivals too. It comes in a hard carrying case to keep your utensils clean and organized.
Instead of having to hunt down new utensils at every food booth, when your hands are probably already full, these will be handy in your bag wherever you go. These also are more environmentally friendly than getting plastic utensils each time.
If you are like us, you might want to try multiple things from a booth during a festival, but it can be difficult to carry that to the closest table. These trays are a must to help you carry all your delicious food with you.
These are 15″x10″ and are lightweight enough to fit in a larger bag. This is also an 8 pack so you can give them to everyone in your party!
6. Water Bottle
Staying hydrated at Disney World is a MUST. While you can get free water cups at quick service locations, that means hunting them down and sometimes going out of your way for a small cup of water. Instead, we recommend bringing a refillable bottle with you so that you can stay hydrated wherever you are.
We love this Owala one and we use it often. It’s 40 oz so it will keep you hydrated and cool for a while before needing to refill it. It keeps drinks cold for up to 24 hours!
7. Hotel Essentials
While staying at a hotel while on vacation, there are a few things that can just make your life easier.
This Flat Plug Power Strip is a great way to have more outlets for all of your devices.
We love that this has a 5ft cord so no more having to charge your devices on the other side of the room from you. It comes with 3 outlets, 2 USB, and 2 USB-C. The flat plug makes it easy to put behind a table or nightstand in a hotel room.
Even if you aren’t going to be doing laundry while on vacation, this Mesh Pop-Up Laundry Hamper is great for keeping your hotel room organized.
It will allow you to keep everyone’s dirty clothes in one location instead of spread out all over the room in piles. When the hamper is empty, simply fold it up and put it out of the way.
Having a sound machine in a hotel could be a game changer to ensuring you a good night’s sleep.
It can get loud in hotel rooms between the floors above you or if you’re near the stairs, or maybe you are just a light sleeper. This white noise machine has 3 white noises such as brown noise, white noise, pink noise. 2 fan sounds. and 18 natural sounds.
8. Comfortable Shoes
You walk a lot of miles around Disney World so you are going to want a comfortable pair of shoes to avoid blisters and sore feet.
We have several of our favorite pairs of shoes, like the HOKAs above, listed on our Amazon Storefront. Many of these have been tried out by our team and we always look for something comfortable with support.
9. Comfortable Clothes
Speaking of comfortable shoes, you will want comfortable clothes as well. Remember you will be walking around a theme park and it could be hot and rainy.

Comfortable clothing is a must!
We recommend wearing moisture-wicking materials and lightweight clothing. Be sure to check the weather before your trip because Disney World has also seen some cold snaps and you don’t want to be caught in shorts during those.
10. Sun Protection
You will also want to protect yourself from the sun while on your trip because a bad sunburn could cause some issues. Of course, one of the best ways to do that is sunscreen.
We’ve really been enjoying this Supergoop! SPF 40 Sunscreen and maybe it could be the one for you! It’s effective at protecting your skin. It fits perfectly even in a fanny pack. And it’s typically less expensive than picking up the option you find in the parks.
A hat of any kind is a great way to shade your face from the sun. Whether its a bucket hat, baseball hat, or sunhat, this can save you from a bad sunburn.
Something simple like this Mickey Mouse Baseball Hat is a great option to go ahead and pack something before your trip without having to stop and hunt for something you like once you’re in the parks.
Finally, you’re going to want a good pair of UV sunglasses like these SOJOS Retro Oval Sunglasses.
These SOJOS Oval sunglasses for women can reduce glare from sunshine and shield your eyes from dangerous UVA and UVB rays to prevent long-term damage. These are also a great price compared to the ones you’ll find in the parks.
