There is so much going on at EPCOT right now!
If you’ve been to EPCOT recently, you’ve seen a lot of construction, especially around the France Pavilion with Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and La Crêperie de Paris coming soon, and with the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction! And we also have a new nighttime attraction coming soon!
But something else is getting a new look over at EPCOT. Spaceship Earth is about to get a makeover — no not the one you think! In a presentation by D23, Imagineer Zach Riddley offered up some new details about the future of Spaceship Earth: it’s about to get new exterior enhanced lighting!
Speaking on the push for more color at the entrance to the park, Riddley said, “One of the defining features of this transformation — and for all of EPCOT — is color.” He then spoke about a new programmable lighting design that will “activate this area of the park like never before.” It will connect Spaceship Earth to its surroundings and “perfectly encapsulate the park transformation.”
This means Spaceship Earth’s GORGEOUS nighttime pink and purple, yet static, color-scheme we know and love could be getting some major love. Riddley mentioned custom programming, which seems to imply that colors could change in real time, similar to how we see the lighting n the Tree of Life in Disney’s Animal Kingdom or the evening lighting on Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom shift each night. EXCITING!
He said, “Again, taking this symbol of optimism and hope and collaboration across culture and time and really recreating a unique evening moment that, again, will make EPCOT such a defining feature at night.” This is a very exciting update and we’ll keep you updated on all things EPCOT!
