From Pirates of the Caribbean to Jungle Cruise, Disney has a habit of turning classic attractions into feature-length films — and we’re certainly not complaining.
The Haunted Mansion movie starring Eddie Murphy that came out in 2003 wasn’t a huge box office success, and it looks like Disney is trying to redeem itself with a NEW Haunted Mansion film set to come out in 2023. We’ve had a few updates on the plot and details about the cast, but now we know who will be playing yet another iconic character from the attraction!
Get ready for another happy haunt to join the cast of Disney’s new Haunted Mansion movie, as Jared Leto has signed onto the feature film! According to Entertainment Weekly, a source close to the production has confirmed that Leto will be participating in the new movie adaptation.
So, which legendary character will Leto be playing? Well, that fact hasn’t quite been confirmed just yet, but reports indicate it’s the Hatbox Ghost!
Leto joins the star-studded cast that includes Jamie Lee Curtis as Madame Leota plus Rosario Dawson, LaKeith Stanfield, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, and Tiffany Haddish.
So far, we know that the new Haunted Mansion movie will follow a doctor and her 9-year-old son looking to start a new life. They find and move into an eerily cheap mansion in New Orleans, but then soon discover that this is much more house than they asked for. They enlist the help of a priest, widowed scientist, psychic, and a historian.
You can catch Haunted Mansion in theaters on March 10th, 2023. Be sure to stay tuned to DFB for the latest Disney movie news and more!
