Splash Mountain is CHANGING and now we’ve got some major updates.
The ride has already permanently closed at Disney World and will close in Disneyland soon. Both rides will then be transformed into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, an attraction that follows the story of Tiana, Naveen, and more of their friends as they prepare for a Mardi Gras celebration with your help. We’ve seen some details shared about the attraction in the past but now we’ve got some confirmation about just what characters will appear in it!
As you might have guessed, Tiana will appear in the ride (no shocker there and something we already knew). Disney had previously announced (and has once again confirmed) that Anika Noni Rose will reprise her role as Princess Tiana for this ride.
Also joining her will be Prince Naveen (again, no surprise there and something we already knew). Bruno Campos will be reprising this role from the film.
And Michael Leon Wooley will be reprising his role as Lewis (again, something we already knew!).
Disney has also previously noted that Jenifer Lewis, the voice behind Mama Odie, would be featured in the rethemed ride. They have now shared some concept art of the scene where Mama Odie will appear. She will be joking with guests as they journey past her and she’ll show off a “special display of her magic.”
Disney notes that she is “comically eccentric, yet wise and all-knowing, throughout the adventure.”
But just who else will join the ride? Disney previously shared that there will be NEW characters on the ride, including a band of musical critters, and they’ve once again confirmed that.
It looks like there could be a beaver on the drums, an opossum playing bass, a raccoon playing accordion, a turtle with a harmonica, a rabbit on the washboard, and an otter playing the fiddle. About the animals, Disney previously said, “It feels like they may have a bigger role to play in this story…but we’ll just have to wait and see on that one.”
Disney has confirmed that there will be a brand NEW cast of original Disney characters with “distinct names and personalities” on the ride, as well as dozens of brand NEW audio-animatronic figures.
It seems some other fun character will likely appear on the ride too. Disney notes that guests can expect to find some “familiar faces” on the ride including Eudora (Tiana’s mom), Charlotte, “Big Daddy,” the King and Queen of Maldonia, and Prince Ralphie.
We can’t wait to see how these are all featured in the ride. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is expected to open in late 2024 at both Disney World and Disneyland. For more about the story of the ride, what music it’ll feature, and more, check out our FULL page.
