Out of all the Disney World parks, EPCOT is one that really sticks out to us when it comes to food.
EPCOT is the place to eat for those with adventurous palettes, as you can grab cuisine from each of the 11 countries represented in World Showcase, plus snacks and small plates from the various booths located throughout the parks during the seasonal festivals. While the majority of the restaurants at EPCOT take on a more casual atmosphere, there are TWO restaurants in the park that just feel downright fancy.
It’s pretty widely known that the restaurants in the parks — including “fancier” locations such as Cinderella’s Royal Table or Le Cellier — don’t have a dress code, because you’re typically enjoying them in the middle of a theme park day, and well, we usually wouldn’t choose to dress up for a park day. That’s why we don’t want you to be surprised that these two restaurants in EPCOT DO have a dress code!
Monsieur Paul in the France Pavilion and Takumi-Tei in the Japan Pavilion are two restaurants that won’t allow you to stroll right in for dinner in your typical theme park get-up. Nope, these restaurants are the ONLY ones in EPCOT that serve a limited clientele and require a dress code.
At Monsieur Paul, you’ll be able to dine in an “elegant-yet-relaxed” approach to French dining and cuisine — all while surrounded by French architecture and modern accents. This experience is available for ages 10 and up, so if you have little ones, you might wanna make sure the nanny is available. Further, this is a Disney Signature Dining experience, which requires “attire that adheres to the restaurant’s sophisticated and upscale aesthetic.” Disney requests that clothing be clean, neat, and in good condition.
Similarly, Takumi-Tei offers an upscale dining experience by transporting you to a “quiet haven of peace, tranquility, and beauty.” Here, you can dine while surrounded by handcrafted artwork honoring natural elements like water, wood, earth, stone, and washi paper. Each of the five rooms at Takumi-Tei showcases one of these elements. Guests ages eight and older are able to dine here, and once again, the same dress code is required to enter. It’s another Disney Signature Dining location that requires a more sophisticated look.
So, what would adhering to this dress code look like? Well, you certainly don’t need to dress up for a black tie affair. We’d recommend that the ladies wear an appropriate dress or a nice skirt or dress pants with a blouse. The gentlemen can wear some slacks or khakis with a button-up or polo. If styled correctly, you could probably even get away with jeans — as long as there are no holes or frays. Just make sure to accessorize the denim with a more elevated top, shoes, and even jewelry.
Well, what do you say? Did you realize that you’d need to dress to impress at these EPCOT dining locations? We’ll continue to keep you in the loop with Disney news, advice, and even food reviews. Make sure to follow along so that you never miss out on the magic.
