The Walt Disney Company has had its share of conflicts over the past few years.
One CEO stepped down, while a former CEO returned to the role. There’s an ongoing feud with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The company’s reputation among consumers has taken a major hit. After announcing a huge partnership for a new sports streaming service, the company is also under scrutiny by the U.S. Department of Justice. But as an employer, how does Disney compare to other big companies? Well, now we know.
Forbes recently released its list of the best large U.S. employers, with companies ranked in partnership with Statista, a market research firm. Employees at U.S. companies with more than 5,000 workers were surveyed about how they would rate their employer and if they would recommend their employer to others.
Survey participants included current employees, those who’ve worked for the company within the past two years, and people familiar with the company through other people they may know affiliated with that industry. Those survey responses were tallied, with the top 600 organizations listed as those that ranked the highest.
So, how did Disney rank? Well, Disney came in at #419 overall.
However, the company came in second within its industry, Media and Advertising, just below Interpublic Group. It ranked higher than Comcast, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Netflix.
Meanwhile, Disneyland Cast Member performers recently formed a labor union that will represent theatrical performers, parade performers, and character performers, as well as hosts, leads, and trainers that support Disneyland’s entertainment department. The new union will be represented by the Actors’ Equity Association — the same union that represents performers and stage managers at Disney World, on Broadway, and in other live theater productions across the U.S.
