Universal Orlando Resort has just announced adjustments to their operations due to Hurricane Milton.
Hurricane Milton is expected to make landfall on the west coast of Florida early Thursday morning; however, the storm will be bringing severe weather prior to landfall. Forecasters anticipate heavy rain and strong winds for much of Central Florida.

Universal Orlando Resort has announced that they will be making operational changes on Wednesday, October 9th and Thursday, October 10th. Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Universal CityWalk will close at 2PM on October 9th. They will all be closed on October 10th. Universal Volcano Bay will be closed on both October 9th and October 10th. Halloween Horror Nights will be canceled on both October 9th and October 10th.
At this time, Universal Orlando expects that they will be reopening on Friday, October 11th, however they will adjust as necessary depending on the storm impacts. We will continue to keep you updated as Universal Orlando provides more information on reopening.
Universal Orlando Resort has a Severe Weather Policy that states if “a hurricane or tropical storm warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center or a state of emergency is declared for the Orlando area or in your place of residence, within seven days of your arrival, you can contact our team in advance to reschedule or cancel your Universal Parks & Resorts Vacations Package, hotel room only accommodations and Universal Orlando theme park tickets booked directly with Universal Orlando, without any cancellation or change fees imposed.”
If you have Universal Orlando reservations from third-party suppliers, travel agents, or tour operators, you will need to contact them directly to change or cancel any of your reservations.
In addition to these closures at Universal Orlando Resort, the Orlando International Airport will be ceasing operations beginning at 8AM on Wednesday, October 9th. SeaWorld Orlando has also announced it will be closed on October 9th and October 10th. As well, Disney Cruise Line has announced that the October 11th sailing of the Disney Wish has been canceled.
