Can you believe it is 2025?

Magic Kingdom
While there might be a lot going on in the Disney World parks this year with new attractions coming, there is something even bigger happening just down the road. We are sure you’ve heard about the new theme park coming to town and we are thinking people will be ditching Disney World and looking to it instead, especially Gen Z.
Epic Universe will consist of 5 different lands and numerous new attractions. The new park will open on May 22nd, 2025 and many fans have already got their tickets, and others are planning trips in the new year already. With so much excitement happening across town, it’s very likely a lot of typical Disney World visitors may choose to skip out on the Disney parks in 2025 and visit Universal Orlando instead. Or they may choose to have fewer days at Disney World so they can explore Epic Universe.

This is especially true because as it stands now, single-day tickets to Epic Universe are not yet available to the general public (although they will be available before the park opens, according to Universal), so families need to book multi-day tickets or tickets + hotel packages to confirm they’ll be able to visit for their preferred dates in 2025. But why will this appeal to Gen Z directly?

Dark Universe
Dark Universe is basically like Halloween Horror Nights all. year. round! It seems like this monstrous land will bring an element of scare to the theme parks, unlike anything Disney does. Even when Villains Land is open at Magic Kingdom, many years down the road, it will not be the same level of fear that you will feel here at Epic.

We are getting two rides in this land that are already looking amazing to us and we know Gen Z loves some scares. This feels like the perfect land to get that thrill in.

Less Planning
In 2025, it can take a LOT of planning to have a successful Disney World trip. You will need to book your dining reservations and your Lightning Lanes in advance of your vacation. You will probably want to learn how to navigate the MyDisney app as it will be your key and guide to everything you do. That can be draining and Gen Z is looking for something simpler.

Epic Universe
At Universal Orlando, there is a lot less planning ahead. If you want to use their version of “skip the line system”, Express Pass, you do not need to preplan it or make reservations in advance. You can simply walk up to an attraction that offers it — no scheduled time ranges, unlike Disney World.

Thrill Rides
There is one thing Universal just has more of, thrill rides and Epic is only adding more to those. For example, Starfall Racers will be located in Celestial Park and looks like a classically fun rollercoaster.

We will see even more attractions with characters from Harry Potter, Super Nintendo, and How to Train Your Dragon. It looks like there are plenty of rides for us to get our thrill in here.

We are keeping an eye out as more news for Epic Universe comes out. Be sure to follow DFB for more!
