Do you have your fork ready?
We sure hope so, because we’re DIGGING IN with another Outdoor Kitchen Food Booth review at the 2025 EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival! La Isla Fresca is our next stop, and since this food booth has consistently delivered some terrific tropical tastes during previous festivals, we always look forward to checking it out. Of course, the question is: Does La Isla Fresca impress once again this year? Let’s find out…
Menu
You’ll find La Isla Fresca tucked between the France and Morocco Pavilions in EPCOT’s World Showcase. The menu features ALL new eats, including Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Seafood Ceviche, and Coconut-Chocolate Flancocho (a plant-based item!).
The Citrus Slushy returns in its non-alcoholic form, and of-age guests can order it with Don Q Límon Rum. Florida Orange Groves Winery Hurricane Class 5 Tropical Sangria is also up for grabs, along with the new Woodchuck Chuck’s Imperials Wild Tropics Hard Cider.
Eats
NEW this year is the Jamaican Jerk Chicken, which was lent some additional flavor with Pigeon Pea Rice, Roasted Sweet Plantains, and Cinnamon Butter. It costs $6.25.
The Jamaican Jerk Chicken was a hit for us! The pigeon pea rice was very basic, but it had good flavor and we were glad it was there because it helped to make the dish a bit heartier. The roasted sweet plantains we had almost had a sour note to them — they didn’t taste quite right to us. The chicken itself was SO good — it was absolutely covered in spice and was so tender. But, if you don’t like any sort of spice, this is not the dish for you.
The Seafood Ceviche is the next new item. It comes with shrimp, scallops, and fish with citrus, radish, and chulpe (dried corn). You can grab it for $8.25.
This was easily our favorite thing on this menu, period. It was SO refreshing and tasted like some of the best shellfish, mixed into a cool and slightly tangy pico de gallo situation. You’ve got a lot of shrimp and scallops, and while it looks like a tiny cup, they pack it with as much seafood as they can. Of course, if you don’t like seafood and you don’t like pico de gallo, don’t get this one. It’s also a little bit soupy, which we thought added more of that refreshing note to it, but if that’s a texture that’s gonna be really off-putting when you’re thinking of biting into seafood, you might want to skip this.
This year’s plant-based option is a Coconut-Chocolate Flancocho. Made with Chocolate Cake, Coconut Custard, and Passion Fruit Caramel, you may want to include it in your Garden Graze. It costs $5.25.
The chocolate cake part of this dessert was excellent. It was nice and fudgy, and the passion fruit caramel was good too — it was probably our favorite part, honestly. It was sweet and it had just enough tartness and fruitiness at the same time. But, we didn’t love the coconut flan, mostly because the texture was a bit different than what we normally expect from flan. The flavor was still good, though, and worked really well with the rest of the dish.
Drinks
Ready for some more of those tropical tastes? The Citrus Slushy is back, combining lemonade, grapefruit, and simple syrup in a frozen slushy form. The non-alcoholic version of this beverage is $4.75, and it’s also available to order with Don Q Límon Rum for $12.00.
This was sweet, tart, and refreshing all at the same time. We really enjoyed it! We think kids and adults both would like it, and we can easily see how it would be even better with the rum. We won’t be running back to get it, but it did hit the spot.
Wine drinkers may want to try the Hurricane Class 5 Tropical Sangria from Florida Orange Groves Winery. You can purchase a glass for $11.50.
This was truly semi-sweet, so while you won’t feel like you’re drinking grape juice, it certainly is not a dry wine. We didn’t get a whole lot of tropical vibes or notes with this, but it was enjoyable — though there are much more exciting drinks at the festival.
OVERALL
Seafood lovers definitely need to stop by La Isla Fresca for the ceviche, and if you like jerk spices and flavors, you’ll want to try the Jamaican Jerk Chicken with Pigeon Pea Rice here. While we didn’t love the drinks, you can’t go wrong with either of them if you like fruity, tropical beverages.
