Quick service restaurants at Disney World hotels don’t always have the best reputations. Many people will opt to skip the food courts at the value and moderate Disney World hotels if they have the chance, and even the grab-and-go food at the deluxe resorts isn’t really much to write home about most of the time.
However, there’s always the chance that you’ll find a hidden gem menu item at one of these hotels, so recently, we visited Beach Club Marketplace at Disney’s Beach Club Resort to see if the food there is praiseworthy.
Atmosphere
Beach Club Marketplace is an interesting case when it comes to dining. Both Beach Club and Yacht Club’s quick service restaurants are located INSIDE gift shops, so you get a strange amalgamation of shopping and dining.
The vibe here feels more like a grab-and-go spot than a true quick-service location. You will find a counter towards the back of the shop where you can place your order for food.
There are also refrigerated displays with prepackaged snacks, sandwiches, and desserts are set up throughout.
What’s even more bizarre is that there isn’t really restaurant seating here. If you exit across from the restaurant entrance, you’ll find a door that leads outside to some picnic-style tables. These are under an awning, so you could probably have a nice meal here if it’s not too hot or raining sideways.
Your other seating option is to walk down the hall to the Beach Club Solarium. This room is filled with chairs, tables, and couches, so it’s a bit more comfortable on a bad weather day.
So now that we’ve checked out the space, let’s talk about the food!
Menu
Most of the menu features typical quick-service lunch options. They’ve got a chili cheese hot dog, pepperoni flatbread, various sandwiches, and a salad option.
Plant-based eaters can try the chili, and those looking for something healthier might want to check out the soup and salad selections, which include a Chicken Caesar Salad, chili, and clam chowder (fitting for a place called the Beach Club).
There are a few different options for the kids, from healthier items like sandwiches and a Kid’s Pack to a hot dog, macaroni and cheese, or an Uncrustable.
The bakery section has cookies, brownies, cinnamon rolls, and other pastries. And if you’re celebrating a birthday, you can even purchase an entire cake!
Other dessert options are available outside the bakery, including a cupcake, a brownie, a Caramel Cheesecake, and the Cookies ‘n Cream Trifle.
To drink, you can try a fresh-made specialty coffee, each prepared with Joffrey’s Coffee. They also serve hot tea and hot cocoa.
So, what did I order to try?
Eats
First up, we grabbed the Caprese Sandwich for $11.99. It’s made with sun-dried tomato pesto, arugula, fresh mozzarella, and tomato on Focaccia bread served with a side of chips.
We were surprisingly impressed with this sandwich! While it may have come from inside a gift shop, it sure didn’t taste like it did. There were lots of toppings on top including plenty of tomato, 3 big slices of mozzarella, and a good handful of arugula. There is a reason caprese is so popular, and these flavors blended well together for a light and tasty sandwich.
Plus, we can’t praise the focaccia bread enough! It was soft, light, and buttery, with a slightly toasted outside so the edges were crisp, yet the inside was fluffy and soft. The herbs and garlic on top added great flavor, and the bread worked really well with the toppings. We will be thinking about that focaccia for a while!
Next, we had the Kids’ Macaroni & Cheese for $7.29. This one is unique because it comes topped with Goldfish! The meal comes with two sides and a beverage. For sides, you can choose from prepackaged grapes, carrots, or apple sauce. There aren’t any hot sides available here. We chose the grapes and applesauce, which were exactly what you would expect.
The kids’ macaroni and cheese is your classic Disney mac & cheese. We thought this macaroni and cheese tasted a smidge cheesier than others we have tried, but if your kiddo is a fan of Kraft macaroni and cheese, they will likely enjoy this dish.
It comes with goldfish crackers on top which we thought was a fun touch. Plus, it adds a great crunchy texture to the soft mac and cheese. We do have a warning though, as the mac and cheese is saucy. The goldfish got soft pretty quickly, so you will want to plan on eating this pretty quickly.
For dessert, we chose the Cookies ‘n Cream Trifle for $5.49. It’s made with layers of chocolate cookie sandwich mousse, chocolate cake, and whipped cream. This dessert has a nice chill to it as it comes from the refrigerated section. While the dessert is simple, it was delicious.
It was creamy and a great changeup from a cookie or a cupcake. The layers of chocolate cookie sandwich mousse reminded us of a cheesecake filling, and the chocolate cake layers were fairly moist. There was lots of Oreo and chocolate flavor in this dessert, and it is one we would definitely get again!
Nosh or Not
This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…
- You are staying at an EPCOT resort and are looking for a quick bite. If you are staying at one of the EPCOT resorts nearby to Disney’s Beach Club Resort, and are looking to grab a quick bite, the Beach Club Marketplace could be a great option.
- You are craving a Caprese Sandwich made with some delicious focaccia bread. We really enjoyed the Caprese Sandwich and that focaccia bread was fantastic! Not to say you can’t find a great Caprese Sandwich elsewhere (for example you can also find one at Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian), but this is a wonderful option.
- You want to escape the crowds and grab some light bites. If you are tired of being surrounded by crowds, this could be a great stop. Especially if you are in EPCOT as you can walk over or take a boat to the hotel. You will find a more relaxed vibe and less people here.
You should skip this Disney World spot if…
- You are looking for a large meal. You could make it work by grabbing a lot of items, but overall, this location would be better suited for a snack or lighter meal. The good news is that there are lots of restaurant options nearby including Trattoria al Forno, The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant, and Ale & Compass.
- You are looking for unique menu options. The menu features lots of classic fare and there aren’t many unique flavors or pairings to be found. It could be great for picky eaters, but if you are looking for something that you haven’t tasted before, this won’t be the best option. For example, you could head over to Boma at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge for some African flavors.
- You are not close to Disney’s Beach Club Resort, and it would be difficult to get to. While we really enjoyed our meal, we also don’t think this is a restaurant you need to go out of your way to try. If you are in the area, go for it. But don’t make a long trek here!
Overall
We were actually very impressed with this quasi-gift shop, quasi-quick service restaurant location. While it is tucked away inside the Beach Club Marketplace, we enjoyed everything we tried here. The Caprese Sandwich was fresh, and we will be dreaming about that focaccia bread. The Cookies ‘n Cream Trifle was simple, but such a satisfying dessert. The Kids’ Macaroni & Cheese wasn’t anything that knocked our socks off, but kids would enjoy it, and we loved the goldfish crackers on top. Our biggest complaint is the seating situation, but there are a couple of good options nearby!
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!
