Universal’s Epic Universe has several revolutionary theme park elements, including its attractions, theme portals, and… food ordering?
That’s right, many of the restaurants at Universal’s new park utilize a new mobile-based ordering system that we’ve previously seen at other restaurants at the resort. One that even Disney fans are looking at longingly.
At many of Epic Universe’s restaurants, including the thematically phenomenal Das Stakehaus in Dark Universe, each table features a QR code and a specific number.
Guests enter the restaurant, sit at an available table, and scan the QR code to order and pay for their food using their mobile device. Their meal is then brought to their table, corresponding with the number, when ready.
This system features the ease of mobile ordering, without needing to pick up the food and — sometimes fruitlessly — juggle said food while looking for a table.
Suffice it to say, we wouldn’t mind Disney integrating something similar into their own mobile ordering system, at least in certain locations.
Universal’s QR code/table number mobile order system is on full display at some of Epic Universe’s restaurants, and we welcome it. Stay tuned to DFB for more on Epic Universe!
