Jambo, friends!
We’ve been enjoying our Animal Kingdom days the best way we know how — with SNACKS! We went to four different snack spots, and we’re bringing you all the details on whether you need to try these snacks on your next visit. You know what they say, the snacks must be explored.
First, we headed to Eight Spoon Cafe in Discovery Island. We got the Simba Drink for $6.59.
The drink is a mango-flavored slushy with grenadine and two gummy candies, and it’s so cute!
Timon and Pumbaa would definitely approve. When we look at a sip, it tastes like a sweeter pineapple flavor. It’s more mango at the end of the sip, but the sweet grenadine is what comes through with every sip. We thought the gummy worms on top were fun, and when you’re looking for a slushy to switch it up from the traditional blue raspberry or cherry, this will definitely do the trick.
We wandered over to Harambe Market in the Africa section of the park to get the Harambe Sunrise for $6.29.
Our drink was made with Jungle Juice (a blend of passion fruit, orange, and guava juice) and wild strawberry. We ordered it without alcohol, but for $14.50, you can get it made with Corazon Blanco Tequila.
We found the ultimate drink for strawberry lovers! When we took a sip, it was super fruity and we could taste the different fruit juices together. It didn’t taste artificial, but had a lovely fresh fruit flavor to it, and we can see why this is popular. The drink was light and felt special, and it is a treat that we’ll be going back to get again.
Over at Caravan Road in the Asia area of Animal Kingdom, we tried two treats. We started with the Kakigori for $5.99.
This is a Japanese shaved ice dessert flavored with watermelon and sweetened condensed milk.
Our bowl of kakigori felt like a melted watermelon Jolly Rancher mixed with shaved ice, and we’re here for it! The sweet condensed milk adds a nice sweetness to it, and on a hot day, the snack cooled us down. The lines at Caravan Road, the lines were long with everyone also trying to find a way to cool down!
Next, we had the Pina Colada Shaved Ice for $5.79. There are a few different flavors of shaved ice, like watermelon and mango passion fruit, but we couldn’t resist a pina colada moment.
Pina Colada fans are not going to want to skip this one. This treat had the same vibe as eating a thicker pina colada with a spoon. It had that classic, tropical flavor, and again, on those hot Animal Kingdom days, this is a must-needed snack.
The last snack of the day was another drink at the Warung Outpost, also located in Asia. We got the Shangri-La Berry Freeze for $6.25.
This is a non-alcoholic beverage described as a strawberry puree, but we think this is the closest you can get to a real smoothie at Animal Kingdom.
To start off, we LOVED it. It tasted incredibly fresh, with bits of fruit blended throughout the drink to add a different texture. We adored the melted bits on the bottom and how the top was a bit icier, creating a foam. It was fun, and the strawberry flavor was strong, with an overall very fruity taste that we would experience time and time again.
Animal Kingdom often feels like one of the hottest parks, and it can sometimes feel like we’re right on the savannah with the animals. These five snacks and drinks are a great way to cool down in the Florida heat.
