When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. There are quick and easy options, middle-of-the-road and comforting options, and there are even upscale and luxurious options. Today, we are headed over to a signature dining experience at Disney World, and we are taking you with us!
We recently stopped by Tiffins Restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to revisit this favorite, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is this restaurant still worth a stop, or do the prices finally outweigh the experience? Find out here!
Atmosphere
Tiffins is a Fine/Signature Dining option in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It is located on Discovery Island, and it seeks to take you on a “culinary expedition of international cuisine at [a] restaurant inspired by exploration and adventure.” The restaurant is inspired by travel, and you will find beautiful artwork throughout the restaurant celebrating exploration. Much of the artwork hanging in this restaurant also inspired the creation of Animal Kingdom.
The restaurant features three dining rooms, also called galleries. Each gallery features different exhibits and artwork centering around a theme. You will find an Asia-themed room called the Trek Gallery, an African-themed room called the Safari Gallery, and a room covered in animal art called the Grand Gallery. Servers are trained to tell you about the art displayed in the restaurant, so don’t be afraid to ask about the art.
Much of the art inside the restaurant was inspired by drawings and field notes from Imagineers who helped to design Animal Kingdom. In fact, all the artwork in the Grand Gallery features animals that can be found somewhere in Animal Kingdom. There is so much to explore inside the restaurant, so definitely plan for some additional time to meander through the galleries.
While Tiffins is considered a signature dining experience, it has a more relaxed atmosphere than you might find at other signature dining locations. The dining areas are on the darker side, as the main focus is on the artwork on the walls. Seating is tables and chairs, with some booth seating available.
At the end of your meal, you’re given an art print of a sketch by Imagineer Joe Rohde. It’s like a sophisticated version of the signed postcard you get at the end of character meals.
Now that we have explored the restaurant a bit, let’s take a look at the menu!
Menu
We stopped by Tiffins at lunchtime, so let’s take a look at what’s on the menu. Starting off with various appetizers including Tiffins Signature Bread Service, Korean Barbecue Mushroom Bao Buns, and Charred Octopus. There are also a variety of main courses including Tiffins Signature Burger Prix Fixe, Butter Chicken, Oaxacan Pork Duo, and Whole-fried Fish. You can also choose from some desserts, including the Harvest Maple Cheesecake and Sweet Mango Sticky Rice.
There are also options for the kids, including kids’ appetizers and create-your-own entrees.
You can also get a kids’ Specialty Character Drink.
In addition to all the food options, there are also LOTS of drink options, starting off with a coffee and loose leaf tea selection. There are also non-alcoholic beverages such as the Zingiber Fizzle, Hibiscus Henna, and Kiama Mamma. Tiffins also offers a variety of specialty cocktails such as the Tempting Tigress and Spice Trader Classic. You’ll also find a variety of beer and wine.
Now that we have covered the menu, let’s take a look at what we got to eat and drink!
Eats
For appetizers, we grabbed the Pineapple-glazed Pork Belly for $15. This is pineapple-glazed pork belly with guajillo chili sauce, chicharrónes, and spice-pickled vegetable slaw. The pork belly almost tasted like there was a coffee coating on it because we got that hint of flavor. It had a great char on the outside, but was still tender. It was cooked perfectly.
The chicharrónes added a nice crunch to the dish, although it would probably be difficult to eat with the pork belly. Overall, this was a winner for us.
Of course, we also had to grab one of our favorites: Tiffins Signature Bread Service. You can get this for $18, and it features Thai red curry milk bread, Pão de Queijo, papadam, coconut-curry sauce, guava sauce, and ginger-pear chutney. We’ve talked about this bread service a lot. The guava sauce is nice and sweet with a strong guava flavor. The Pão de Queijo, aka cheese bread, works surprisingly well with it for a little sweet and savory action. This was probably our favorite bread and dip.
The papadam is crunchy with bits of seeds in it, and it’s more like a chip than bread. The ginger-pear chutney was bright with some nice herbiness, as well as chunky and even a little crispy. The Thai curry milk bread was fluffy and sweeter than the other breads (don’t worry, that curry flavor isn’t too hot). The coconut curry sauce is creamy and VERY heavy on the coconut flavor. We always enjoy this bread service, but if we had a choice, we’d get the bread service at Sanaa over this every time. But, you know, bread service is always a big win for us, regardless.
For our main courses, we grabbed the Oaxacan Pork Duo, which costs $48. It is grilled pork chop, salsa macha, plantain-chipotle sauce, fresh corn tamal, smoked pork shoulder, salsa verde, and cabbage slaw. We found the pork to be a little chewy, but that didn’t make it less enjoyable. The spices were nice and it had a good sear and smoky flavor, but was still juicy on the inside. Also, that plantain-chipotle sauce worked SO well with the meat. It didn’t have any heat, but it was a nice balance to the pork chop.
The slaw is tangy and acidic and has a great crunch. We loved that because who loves a soggy slaw? The tamal was sweet with a soft texture that’s moist on the inside with nice, full kernels of corn. YES. There was also the pulled pork shoulder on top that was nice and tender. Honestly, the tamal was our favorite part of this dish!
We also got the Moroccan Short Rib Tagine for $54. This dish features turmeric-scented couscous, golden raisins, grilled artichokes, roasted carrots, and marcona almonds. The short rib is so tender that it cuts like buttAH. It’s very fatty, so it’s nice and tender. It also has a nice char on the outside, but is still juicy on the inside.
The couscous is on the sweeter side with a nice bite, but the flavor works with the meaty short rib. The carrots are very sweet, but not very tender. We found them crunchy, and almost too much so.
For dessert, we started with the Harvest Maple Cheesecake for $14. This dessert is maple cheesecake mousse with cherry gelée insert, molasses spice cake, molasses-chai ice cream, pecan crumble, poached pears, maple tuile, and cherry sauce. So this is NOT a true slice of cheesecake, but it turned out to be our favorite dessert that we tried here. The cheesecake is light, almost like a mousse. There’s also some cherry gelée in the middle with a nice tart and bright cherry flavor.
The cheesecake also has a nice maple flavor, but what we really loved was the chai ice cream. It’s refreshing and tastes just like chai. The pecan crumble added a nice crispiness and gave this dessert a nice fall vibe. The poached pears were tender and sweet, but we felt like they didn’t belong with the rest of the dessert. They were almost like a separate dessert.
Finally, we also tried the Champurrado Chocolate Bar, which costs $15. It is made with spiced chocolate ganache, Modelo Negra mousse, Dulce de Leche, passion fruit-lime sauce, and chili meringue. Hello, chocolate!!!! This is THE chocolate dessert for chocolate lovers. There is a slight hint of chili taste to it, but it’s not spicy, so don’t worry about that. It’s just full of rich chocolate flavor. We’re talking DECADENT.
The bottom part of the dessert is a ganache that is fudge-like, but a little lighter. Then you’ve got Dulce de Leche swirls on top that are nice and creamy and balance out the chocolate nicely. You also get a crisp piece of chocolate on top.
This dessert is so rich, you might want to share, so plan accordingly.
Nosh or Not
This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…
- You’ve got time. This is NOT a restaurant you just pop into for a quick meal. Dining here is for those who want a slower, more relaxed meal and aren’t worried about making it to their next Lightning Lane.
- You want something different. Okay, granted that Disney’s Animal Kingdom has some pretty good counter service, but if you’re tired of typical theme park food, this is a restaurant that will make you forget you’re in a theme park.
- You want to learn more about Animal Kingdom. The artwork here, as well as what you learn from the servers, is a walk through Animal Kingdom history you won’t find anywhere else.
You should skip this Disney World spot if…
- It’s your first visit to Animal Kingdom. A meal at Tiffins takes some time, so you will lose valuable park time.
- You want a lighter meal. All the food we had at Tiffins is very heavy, which might be a bit much if you’re not looking for a heavy meal or if it’s a hot day out.
- You’ve got picky eaters in your party. Although there are some safer kids’ meal choices at Tiffins, this is a restaurant for more adventurous diners.
Overall
What makes Tiffins so surprising is that it’s smack dab in the middle of a theme park, but inside, you wouldn’t know that from the atmosphere and the food. It’s also cool and quiet, and everything you might want if you’re looking to escape the theme park without actually leaving the theme park.

Tiffins is one of our absolute favorites in Disney. Never disappoints but we aren’t picky eaters.
Never eaten there, too exotic for my dining pallet…
Tiffins is a great restaurant, the food is very good, and the service is great. If outside prices would stop going up then inside prices would not have to go up.
