Currently, in downtown Los Angeles, California, demonstrators are protesting in the streets due to immigration policies and ICE raids.
With protests occurring in L.A., many guests are concerned about how this will impact their safety while visiting Disneyland Resort.
According to CBS News, currently, protests are taking place in downtown Los Angeles, specifically in Los Angeles County. While Disneyland is located in Orange County, adjacent to Los Angeles County, there is a considerable distance between Disneyland and the protests. Many of the demonstrations are outside the Los Angeles Police Department Metro Detention Center, which is approximately 26.3 miles away from Disneyland, making it a 45-minute drive from the area.
Sections of the 101 Freeway are currently being blocked off by protesters, which could affect the drive for people traveling from that direction. A majority of the road closures were reported on Sunday night, and it appears that most have been cleared; however, guests traveling in that direction will want to keep an eye on road closures.
For guests flying into John Wayne Airport in Orange County, the traffic is approximately 30 minutes from Disneyland, which is average. From Los Angeles International Airport, it’s currently about one hour away.
There is a National Guard presence in Compton, about 20 miles away from Disneyland. Most National Guard presence is within downtown Los Angeleles, about 27 miles away from the park.
Right now, it does not appear that Disneyland or any surrounding areas have been affected by the protests. The park remains open with its regular operating hours, and no notifications have been posted on websites or sent to guests.
Updated June 10th
Protests have moved to Santa Ana, California. The National Guard is blocking off portions of the roadways close to the Civic Center. The National Guard is mainly located at the Santa Ana Federal Building, which is located about 7 miles away, approximately a 16-minute drive from Disneyland.

I’m sorry but call it like it is, Riots are happening in LA. Don’t sugarcoat it.
There was chaos in Santa Ana, last night…less than three miles from the parks. Big California cities are horrible places to be last several years. Time to stop the destruction and violence. Give peace a chance Urban California.
Thank you for the post about the protests inLA. My son (with some special needs) and I (single mom) are traveling to Disneyland in a few weeks. Would love any other news on this topic!
I gotta comment, they are protest that develop in confrontations because someone at the top of government (who shall remain nameless) is forcing the confrontation to divert attention from himself. Nobody asked to be turned into a military controlled state.
Riots are now in near Disneyland city of Santa Ana, as in cars being set on fire, fireworks, bricks, thrown at law enforcement.
Law enforcement smoke, tear gas, rubber bullets at crowds.
Looting and crime back to riot levels.
We canceled our Disneyland trip.
FYI – protests started yesterday (Monday, June 9) in Santa Ana which is next door to Anaheim. It appears that the “protest” ended Monday night, but who knows? Keep checking the news. These protests are happening at the Federal Buildings in Santa Ana. Disneyland isn’t near there. Plus, Disneyland has a lot of security.
How privileged we are that we can just cancel our expensive trips and not even have to think about all the people being snatched up in Los Angeles.
Watch the right coverage. The vast majority of protesters out there are singing and dancing in the street, not setting cars on fire or breaking windows.
And folks: these are PEOPLE, Americans defending their NEIGHBORS, performing their civic duty when they see injustice. Stop talking about them like they’re animals.
