EPCOT is full of fantastic dining options, merchandise, and experiences from all around the world, and you can experience them all in ONE park!
Each of the eleven pavilions in World Showcase is unique in its own ways, and some of the pavilions even have some interesting rules you need to follow. This is especially true over in the Japan Pavilion, so if you’re planning to visit soon, here’s one rule you’ve got to plan for you!
If you’re shopping at Mitsukoshi in the Japan Pavilion, you’ll find it’s home to tons of knick-knacks that are fun to bring home from the parks, especially since they’re not often Disney themed.
Recently, we stopped by and saw these glass bottles of Ramune, which is a Japanese soda you’ll often find served in Japanese restaurants, or you can also buy the soda at many international grocery stores, like H-Mart. This soda comes in glass bottles and you use a topper wrapped in the protective wrapper on top to pop the glass ball into the soda, effectively opening it. However, if you purchase this soda for $4.99, you won’t be able to drink it at all in the park.
Drinks that are in any glass bottles are not allowed in the parks, so while you’re able to purchase the drink to bring home with you or back to your hotel, you won’t be able to open and drink it while you’re in the park. Thankfully, this drink doesn’t have to be refrigerated, so you can carry it around with you during your park day, but we do recommend you save this pavilion for one of your last spots, or purchase this souvenir towards the end of the day, so you don’t need to carry it around.
However, you can always get a locker to place the drink in, if you’re willing to spend a little bit of extra money. We really don’t recommend opening the drink anyway and hoping you’ll get away with it, because security is EVERYWHERE in the parks, and the last thing you want is for you to be told you have to throw away a drink you just purchased, and risk getting in trouble for breaking the rules.

I understand you can’t drink in park. But could you have cast member in store open and pour into your reusable bottle and have them discard it? Just a general question. But thanks for the heads up on the proper etiquette to this type of purchase. I purchased a “plant your own bonsai tree kit” for my mom there. The girl asked if I wanted the box taped…but also asked if I was flying. That TSA will required it to be opened.
