A lot of change is happening over at Disneyland Resort, but it’s not all happening inside the park!

If you’ve ever driven to Disneyland, you may have noticed that the traffic can be pretty bad at peak times of day. In an effort to reduce this congestion, there’s a big new project beginning in the Disneyland parking area that you’ll want to keep your eye on. While a lot of it is backstage right now, we did get a look at what some of the area will look like!
Plans are underway for a new parking structure and transportation hub to be built on the east side of Disneyland Resort. Currently, a portion of the Manchester Cast Member parking lot is planned for use. The purpose of this new area is to provide approximately 6,000 parking spaces, shuttle and rideshare areas, additional security screening, as well as dedicated access for traffic off of Disney Way. This is all in an effort to improve parking and traffic flow throughout the resort area.

Shown in the artist concept rendering above, this new parking and transportation hub will also feature a pedestrian bridge over Harbor Boulevard, which will lead to an all-new esplanade arrival experience, as well as convenient public access to and from Harbor Boulevard. We headed over to where the current Manchester Cast Member parking lot is, as well as the intersection where the bridge will go, to get a look.

This is the parking area that will now become public, and then, if you face the other way, you’ll look out onto the intersection where the pedestrian bridge will go.

As you can see, this is quite a busy area, so having a pedestrian bridge will be much easier than having to walk across the crosswalks like you do now.
