When you think of moseying through Frontierland in Magic Kingdom, going shopping probably isn’t the first thing that comes to your mind.
And we totally get why — there’s not a ton of shopping to do here! Instead, you may think about going to see Country Bear Musical Jamboree, riding Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, or find yourself pondering what the new Cars land, Piston Peak, will look like in the area. However, that might change soon, because as it turns out, there’s a NEW shop coming to Frontierland!
Disney just quietly announced on its website that a new shop, Prairie Outpost, is reopening in Frontierland. Disney explained that you will be able to “Become a fashion pioneer when you shop for wide-brimmed hats, classic fedoras, customized headwear, and more at this stylish shop in Frontierland.” Now, we know, we know — how can a shop be new AND reopening at the same time? Let us explain…
This NEW shop is replacing a long-abandoned building that used to be home to Prairie Outpost & Supply, which sold iconic park confections like Disney character apples, Mickey Krispies, cookies, and more. We’re going from cookies to…chapeaus! (That’s a fancy word for HAT)

Prairie Outpost & Supply
Here’s a peek at the location — it’s right next door to the Country Bear Musical Jamboree.
We stopped by Magic Kingdom to take a look! Think of this as the “BEFORE” while we wait for the shop to reopen. We don’t have an opening date yet, but we’ll keep our eyes out for new details!
We’re really looking forward to seeing this spot open and think it’ll be a fun addition to the area! This is especially true considering this land will be losing TWO attractions when Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Belle Riverboat close in July to make way for Piston Peak. At least having some more shopping to do will bring something new to the land!

Well I’m fine with a shop but I don’t need a hat. Would prefer a greater variety of clothes and souvenirs.
Oh no, my crippling hat addiction!
Why oh whynhas there never been a Country Bear merch shop??
I think keeping the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer’s Island would be preferable to a hat shop.
I’m not alone in my opinion
Well, I say “Hats Off” or “Hats On”….you do you.
Finally Disney is opening that shop again! I missed the Prairie Outpost and Supply. I always went in there. So I agree with what Cate said, and with what Mimi said and with what JoeB said. What Disney posted about the new merch going there isn’t at all exciting to me. Of course, a lot can change before the shop reopens, so I’m keeping an open mind.
It’s so sad to see Disney going down , soon it will be just another dead amusement park!
Tony go to Universal and see a dead amusement park. Disney is up and running. Maybe not in your fairy land but the rest of us are getting excited about all the new things coming. In my imagination, I would have like to see a nice sit down restaurant put out on the Island. Reservation taken , if your early roam the rest of the island. Kids could eat and then go out of the restaurant and run around and let the adults eat in peace. Transportation to the restaurant would be by the rafts. How cute would that be. But that is may imagination, will be hard to wait for the lands.
