Disneyland is busy right now!

Disneyland!
The original Disney theme park turns 70 this year, and to celebrate, the resort has gone all out! There are tons of new entertainment offerings, food options, and nighttime spectaculars for the festivities. Yeah, there is lots of fun going on, but now, Disneyland is going viral…and it’s not really for the best of reasons. I’m here to give my honest opinion on the viral (expensive!!!) Disney Princess Breakfast!
Disneyland finds itself going viral pretty frequently. Sometimes it’s for fun, sweet, or exciting reasons, and then sometimes it’s for, well, not-so-good reasons, like what’s happening right now. If you have no idea what we’re talking about, over on X, one user shared his bill from the Grand California’s Princess Breakfast Adventures, and the internet was shocked, to say the least.

Disney’s Grand Californian
User @jrockandrollt shared that his total bill for three adults and two kids at the Grand Californian was $937.65. That is just shy of $1,000 for a family of five to have breakfast…and just typing that out has my chest feeling heavy. That number does include the $150 tip; however, it was only slightly above the 20% recommended tip.

The Disney Princess Breakfast Adventure
For all of the expected reasons, this post has gone pretty viral online, with people reacting to the high restaurant receipt. One user even wrote, “Please tell me you have 35 kids” before the original poster confirmed the bill was for a party of five. Our team has actually dined at this same breakfast, and I have some thoughts.

Princess Aurora!
My initial thought was…”Yeah. That checks out.” As much as it stinks, this is considered a Character Dining Event, and knowing Disney the way I do, I wasn’t shocked to see the total. Don’t misunderstand me; I think it’s an insane total, but as a certified Disney Adult, I know that character dining is going to cost you more.

The dining experience includes photos with the princesses, including Belle, Mulan, Aurora, and more. When our team has attended this breakfast, we’ve always found that the character interactions felt more personal and intentional compared to the in-park meet-and-greets. This is also a prix fixe dining experience that serves three courses throughout the meal.

Ariel!
In our experience, for the first course, we got a three-tier tower of appetizers that has coconut cookies & cream chia parfait, mini lobster rolls, beignets, banana wrap, and cornbread.

Lobster Roll
The second course includes chicken and Mickey waffles or house-made mac & cheese and bacon for kids. For adults, you can choose from several items, including scrambled eggs, maple turkey sausage with caramelized pears and figs, breakfast deviled eggs, braised short ribs with balsamic cipollini onions, truffle mac & cheese, and roasted rainbow carrots in a parsnip and celery root puree.

Mickey waffles!
Finally, for dessert, we got vanilla cake pops, sorbet, chocolate cream puffs, and pistachio macarons. For all three courses, the character meet and greet, and some small souvenirs at the end, it’s $142 per person. WOOF! This doesn’t include specialty drinks, like cocktails, beer, or wine.

Dessert Course from previous years
If I’m being honest, our team has truthfully found the food to be quite good! We enjoyed most of our options, but for that price tag, we had higher expectations. If it were totally up to me, no Disney character meal would cost $142 per person, and I say that as someone who loves the Disney Princesses!

Belle at Princess Breakfast Adventures
If you really, really, really love Disney Princesses, this might be perfect for you! This is a multicourse meal, which is nice and feels fancier, but I would still hope for more exciting and bold flavors. I can also see kids loving this spot because of the personalized character experiences, like Belle’s story time. Like we said, this is an EXPERIENCE, not just a regular character meal.

The card with the princess’s signatures on the back!
That said, if you’re looking for a meal that is worth every penny, I feel like I can’t honestly say that the Disney Princess Breakfast Adventure is going to provide that. If you want really unique food items, a quick meal, or you’re dining on a budget, this isn’t the spot for you.

The menu!
If you love this spot, that’s awesome! Keep on loving it. Traditionally, this dining experience is located at Napa Rose, but that location is currently undergoing some major renovations. While the restaurant is getting some TLC, you can dine with the princesses at the Trillium Room at the Grand Californian.

Grand Californian Hotel
For now, I’ll keep on munching on my breakfast chimichangas in Disneyland.

I eat like that on a Disney Cruise, not at the Disneyland or Disney World
No way! Almost $1000 for breakfast? Disney will keep doing this as long as people keep paying and they will continue to raise prices! I get it, the experience, etc. etc. etc.
But no breakfast in the world is worth $1000 even if it’s for five people! There comes a time when we have to say to our kids there are more important things that we can do with our money.. Have a nice breakfast at the hotel together or one of the restaurants on property that serve breakfast . I also get it that there are people who have that kind of money to spend, but I still think it’s a waste I don’t care how fancy the food is. Your stomach doesn’t know the difference if you have bacon and egg frittatas for $1000 or for $75, but your wallet will! And if Disney can keep making people pay that kind of money for breakfast, then the skies the limit! The Princess Breakfast will be $1500 next year for a family of five, and $2000 the year after that. Think it can’t happen? Wait and see! You never thought you’d see $1000 for breakfast at Disney either did you? But it’s here!
Most of the food isn’t even breakfast food!
