Disney’s BoardWalk has been undergoing some major changes for the past few months.

This spot is home to some great restaurants like The Cake Bake Shop and Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs, but there’s also plenty of shopping to do. However, lots of these shops have been closed for refurbishment for the past few months. That’s changing now, though, because one shop has finally reopened!
Screen Door General Store is home to a few different sections, one of them being Thimbles & Threads. The refurbishment of this store began in February 2025 and took place in sections, so the store wouldn’t entirely close during the refurbishment. Now, Thimbles & Threads, the final part of the refurbishment, is complete!

The entire store is now a bit brighter — with both the flooring and darker parts of the wall redone to be a lighter and neutral tone. Just take a look at what the store used to look like!

The checkout counters have also been changed — they’re smaller now, and the color scheme has been changed to fit with the lighter tone of the store.

The displays are also now white/marbled instead of the darker brown color they used to be.

We’re happy this now means the refurbishment on Screen Door General Store is now complete, which means there’s one less construction project going on in Disney World!
