There are dozens of restaurants to choose from for your visit to Disneyland Resort, but unfortunately, you probably don’t have time to visit them all!
There’s a popular dining spot in Disney California Adventure that’s got a 2-course prix fixe lunch menu, so of course, we had to stop by and check it out. Note: Carthay has recently switched their menu (as they do seasonally), so these items likely won’t be back on the menu until next Spring! Come along with us to Carthay Circle Restaurant to try out their lunch menu!
Atmosphere
Carthay Circle is a vibe. Located right on Buena Vista Street, the restaurant is modeled after the historic Carthay Circle Theatre — the one where Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs premiered back in 1937. So yes, this is classic Disney history meets old Hollywood glam.
The restaurant is upstairs, and the second you step off the elevator, you know you’re not in Kansas anymore. Warm wood tones, gold accents, dramatic lighting, and even ceiling murals — it’s giving “Walt might’ve sipped a scotch here.” It’s quiet (by park standards), elegant without being intimidating, and full of details that make it feel legit special.
The seating is a mix of standard tables and plush booths. Service? Impeccable. Napkin-in-your-lap level. Don’t rush — take a walk around and check out the vintage photos of Walt with various celebs. It’s one of the few places in the park where you’ll forget you’re in a theme park. And yes, that’s exactly the point.
So what’s on the menu? Let’s see!
Menu
The lunch menu here currently runs on a two-course prix fixe system. You pick a starter and an entrée. There’s also a full drink menu (hello, fancy cocktails), and one house dessert available for an extra charge. If you’re used to turkey legs and popcorn buckets, this is a serious shift in gears.
The prix fixe is a pretty curated list, but it doesn’t feel limited — seafood, steak, fresh veggies, noodles — it’s not just steak-or-chicken energy. It’s definitely a fancier offering, and honestly, for what you get and where you are, $59 feels fair.
Now let’s talk about the stars of the show — the food.
Eats
First up, we tried the Cheddar Parker House Rolls with Calabrian Chili-Pine Nut Romesco Butter.
This came out warm and fluffy and basically perfect. You could smell the cheddar baked into the bread before they even hit the table. The romesco butter was the main character — zesty, creamy, slightly tangy with a little spice flavor but no real heat. It had pine nuts and green onions on top, and the combo was pure magic.
We would honestly go back for this roll alone. Definitely a 5 out of 5.
Next, we had the Wild Blue Lump Crab Toast.
This is how you do a starter. A slice of toasted brioche topped with asparagus, cucumber ribbons, a citrus crème fraiche, and fresh crab that tastes clean, not fishy. The brioche was buttery and still somehow fluffy inside despite being crisped to golden perfection. Every element worked on its own and together. This was light, fresh, summery, and just overall beautiful. In our opinion, also a 5 out of 5.
Next up, we tried the Angus Beef Tri Tip with Ginger and Soy Glazed Chilled Soba Noodles, Shiitake Mushrooms, and Macadamia Nut Furikake.

Here’s where things got spicy — literally. The tri-tip was chef’s kiss — tender, juicy, and cooked spot-on to medium rare. But heads up: the ginger-soy glaze brings some serious heat. It’s flavorful, sweet, and tangy, but definitely has a kick. If you’re spice-sensitive, maybe ask for the sauce on the side.

The soba noodles were chilled (intentionally) and balanced everything out. Add in the crunch from cabbage and the umami from the mushrooms? This was fire. Absolutely a 5 out of 5.
Lastly, we had the Mickey Hazelnut Crunch Pop for dessert.
This dessert is adorable and worth the extra cost. It’s basically a Mickey-shaped vanilla ice cream bar dipped in a white chocolate hazelnut shell with chocolate ears. The shell is thick (in a good way), and the crunch? Perfect. It’s rich, creamy, sweet, and very much shareable — or not. No judgment. We had to give this one a 5 out of 5.
Drinks
For our drink, we tried the Bloody Mary — made with Hanson of Sonoma Habanero Organic Vodka, BBQ bitters, dill pickle brine, and topped with a dill sprig and horseradish-crusted tomato slice.
Okay, this drink was… divisive. If you like a classic Bloody Mary, this one might catch you off guard. Between the dill, the BBQ bitters, and the tangy brine, there was a lot going on. The vodka pour was solid, and the drink definitely had kick, but it leaned more savory than balanced. Not bad, but not a reorder for us. It only got a 3 out of 5 on our radar.
Nosh or Not
This Disney California restaurant is a must-visit if…
- You want a break from burgers and are down to splurge a little for elevated food.
- You’re celebrating something — an anniversary, birthday, or even just the fact that you got a boarding group.
- You’re a sucker for Disney history and want to eat somewhere that feels like Walt might show up at any moment.
You should skip this Disney World spot if…
- You’re in a hurry. This is a sit-down, slow-down meal. Budget at least 90 minutes.
- You’re dining with picky eaters who don’t do sauces, seafood, or “fancy stuff.”
- You’re trying to save — $59 per person (before drinks and dessert) isn’t nothing.
Overall
Carthay Circle is one of the best-kept “in-plain-sight” dining secrets at Disney California Adventure. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is elevated, and the experience feels special without being stuffy. The prix fixe menu delivers quality and portion sizes that justify the price. If you’re looking for an upscale lunch break that still has the Disney magic, this is 100% worth the reservation.
Would we come back? Absolutely — especially for those cheddar rolls and crab toast. Just maybe skipping the Bloody Mary next time.
