Disneyland is getting a BRAND-NEW transportation hub, and it’s going to be a game changer!
As part of its DisneylandForward decade-long expansion, the Southern California theme park resort has a bunch of fun stuff in the works. With all the new attractions and an entire Avatar land on the way, attendance is likely to go up, and that means an overhaul of how transportation at the resort works will be needed.
According to Disney, theme park resort expansion calls for a new transportation hub, and the Disneyland Resort is already in the process of building one. Disney recently revealed some concept art of what the project could look like.
Per an official statement, “Plans are underway for a new parking structure and transportation hub that will be built on the east side of Disneyland Resort, on a portion of what is currently the Manchester cast member parking lot.”
The new transportation area will offer about 6,000 parking spaces in addition to shuttle and rideshare areas. The hub will also have security screening as well as “dedicated access for traffic off of Disney Way, improving parking and traffic flow throughout the resort area.”
The concept art also shows a new pedestrian bridge built over Harbor Boulevard, interestingly leading to a revamped esplanade. This new arrival experience has only been teased thus far, and we don’t yet know what the “new” esplande will look like, nor what exact changes will be made. This tidbit of information could be massive going forward, as the Disneyland Resort esplanade is the major gateway between the two parks, and possible construction could throw a massive wrench in how you park hop.
As for the pedestrian bridge, it’s touted as something that will “provide convenient public access to and from Harbor Boulevard.”
Of note, this new transportation hub will probably look a lot different than the Ticket and Transportation Center (TTC) at Disney World. Disneyland is much, much smaller than Disney World, even with the approved expansion. There are no waterways or a Skyliner, and the ease of getting from one place to another at this smaller resort is simply greater.
While it’s always possible Disneyland expands the monorail or its offered transportation in general, this new transportation hub will be way more Disneyland/Anaheim-specific, meaning it likely won’t need to be very expansive. With all that said, we’re still in the early stages of DisneylandForward, so new information could come out that would totally change the narrative of what to expect once this transportation hub opens.
We’ll be following this project closely each week as we visit the resort and report all the latest updates.

It’s cute that disneyland thinks more people will be coming. With the prices they are charging nowadays I don’t know anyone who can even go anymore.
Meh. This would have been a good place to use a WEDway PEOPLEMOVER, but that’s to expensive for today’s Disney.
