Disney World is celebrating an underrated holiday!
June 26th or 6/26 is when Disney fans celebrate all things Stitch, A.K.A. Experiment 626. This little alien rascal has stolen our hearts and spawned a franchise that is still going strong — with no plans of stopping anytime soon. We stopped by Magic Kingdom to see how Stitch was celebrating in Tomorrowland, and it looks like he brought some rare friends (okay, maybe enemies…) with him!
We stopped by Stitch’s Dance Party at the Rockettower Plaza Stage in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland, and what a party it was! Of course, Experiment 626 was there dancing it up with the help of a DJ and some other dancers.
But, it wasn’t just Stitch at this dance party — he also brought along some frienemies that we don’t often get to see around the parks! Captain Gantu stopped by to show off some of his dance moves…
…and the extremely evil Dr. Hamsterviel was in attendance as well! We don’t often see these two in the parks, so it was a real treat to see them today.
Disney also recently announced that the sequel to the live-action “reimagining” of the 2002 animated film Lilo & Stitch is officially in development at Walt Disney Studios. Disney shared the announcement with a classic video of Stitch causing chaos:
should’ve known he couldn’t keep a secret.

The live-action Lilo & Stitch premiered on May 23rd, 2025, and despite other live-action remakes of Disney animated films getting less-than-stellar reviews, Stitch proved that he was once again a hit. The movie was the highest-grossing 4-day Memorial Day weekend opening in US history.
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more updates you need to know about from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest news!

Dang it!!! I bet 6/26 is just about the only way, the only day, to catch these characters. And it’s soooooo hot in June in Florida… The most rare characters we have met were probably Genie, Peter Pan, Hook, Smee, Cruella, Maleficent, Evil Queen, and Queen of Hearts. Seeking out new and rare characters is big fun for us. Thanks for the tip about these cool sightings.
