EPCOT is changing the outfit game at Disney World!
While we often recommend dressing comfy for a park day at EPCOT, there are some notable exceptions. Believe it or not, dress codes ARE a thing at some Disney World locations and events, and they can totally change how you go about a park day — especially at EPCOT. The park’s latest upscale dining offering doesn’t require a dress code, but that isn’t stopping Disney Adults from participating in a new trend.
Right off the bat, it’s important to note that TWO of EPCOT’s signature dining restaurants REQUIRE a dress code. Both Takumi-Tei in the Japan pavilion, and Monsieur Paul in the France pavilion require guests to “dress accordingly in attire that adheres to the restaurant’s sophisticated and upscale aesthetic. Clothing should be clean, neat and in good condition. Please no swimwear.”
The dress codes include:
“Men must wear khakis, slacks or dress shorts and collared shirts. Jeans may be worn if in good condition. Sport coats are optional. Women must wear Capri pants, skirts, dresses or dress shorts. Jeans may be worn if in good condition. Not permitted are tank tops, flip-flops, swimsuits, swimsuit cover-ups, hats for gentlemen, cut-offs, torn clothing and t-shirts with offensive language and/or graphics.”
It’s worth noting that these dress codes are ENFORCED. If you don’t adhere, you don’t dine. It’s really that simple.
However, there are other signature dining experiences at EPCOT and around Disney World that are much more lax regarding a dress code, only asking you to adhere to the simple theme park dress codes. Such is the case with EPCOT’s new lounge — GEO-82.
This Spaceship Earth-themed lounge DOES have a rule: Only guests ages 21 and older with a valid ID and an advanced dining reservation are permitted in — making this a total hotspot for Disney Adults.
While the lounge has only been less than a month, we’ve already started to notice a fun trend.
Even though GEO-82 doesn’t require an elevated dress code — you can enjoy the spot in regular theme park attire without issue — we’ve seen folks decide to dress up slightly if they plan on dining here.
We’ve noticed this trend especially among groups of Disney Adults and older crowds. Also worth pointing out, these outfits still seem theme park appropriate and totally comfortable to wear for a full EPCOT day. We have, however, also learned of people going back to their hotel room to change before their reservation, especially if it’s later in the day.
As a reminder, this is totally voluntary! Think something akin to Dapper Day at EPCOT! The basic idea with Dapper Days is to dress up in vintage outfits, as well as encourage creating outfits that put a twist on modern-day Disney themes.
These events aren’t sponsored by Disney (they’re brought to us by dapperday.com) and don’t have a strict dress code either, but so many Disney Adults love to go all out simply because it’s FUN!
GEO-82 is just another excuse for Disney Adults to get away from the kid stuff for a bit and show up to EPCOT in style, and we’re here for it!
