Some of our favorite Disney World snacks just got the boot— and we’re not too thrilled.
Two popular snack spots in Disney’s Animal Kingdom have made some big menu changes, and unfortunately, the new additions don’t make up for the losses. We’re talking about longtime go-to eats that were practically our park staples — gone. Let’s break down what changed at Eight Spoon Cafe and Smiling Crocodile, and why it’s giving us the kind of vibe we’re hoping we don’t see too much more of.
Eight Spoon Cafe Took Away the Mac & Cheese That Had Our Hearts
This little kiosk has always been a clutch spot for hearty snacks that didn’t require a full sit-down meal. And yeah, some of our favorites have always been the baked mac & cheese lineup. Whether you liked it classic, with pulled pork, or barbacoa beef, there was a version for every craving.
But as of this past week? Every single one of those options is gone:
- Barbacoa Beef on Baked Macaroni & Cheese
- Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Pulled Pork
- Baked Macaroni & Cheese (yep, even the plain one)
- Mickey Pretzel with Cheese
- Churro
- Assorted Chips
- Nestlé Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Sandwich
- Nestlé Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar
You read that right. They also cut out two classic Mickey-shaped ice cream options. You could once grab a cheesy carb bomb and cool off with a Mickey bar in one stop. Now? Not so much.
The new menu items:
- Smoked Chicken Wings – Three wings with tangy BBQ sauce, house-made chips, and pickles for $7.99
- Pulled Pork Sliders – Pulled pork with BBQ sauce on Hawaiian rolls with chips and pickles, also $7.99
Are these terrible options? No. But we’d be lying if we said we weren’t feeling sad about the changes to the menu.
Smiling Crocodile Now Feels Like a Mac & Cheese Booth
Smiling Crocodile also decided to ditch its more varied lineup in favor of — you guessed it — mac & cheese. Which wouldn’t be a bad thing if we hadn’t just lost better mac & cheese across the walkway.
Here’s what they removed:
- Barbacoa Nachos
- Chicken Street Tacos
- Street Corn Tacos
- Chips, Salsa, and Queso
These weren’t groundbreaking items, but they did bring flavor and variety. Now they’ve been replaced with:
- Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Buffalo Chicken – Topped with ranch, $9.99
- Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Garlic Smoked Sausage – Also $9.99
- Plain Baked Macaroni & Cheese – $7.99
This feels like a copy-paste job of the comfort food they just cut from Eight Spoon Cafe. So we’re trading variety and flexibility for repetition. We get the appeal of mac & cheese — it’s popular, safe, and it sells.

Yet another example of WDW going in the wrong direction. Virtually every aspect of the parks has been grossly mismanaged for decades. You really have to wonder about the overall competence of Disney. Certainly explains the massive underperformance of its stock…..
