We KNOW Disney World dining, and we literally visit EVERY restaurant multiple times to give you the latest reviews!
We recently stopped by STK Steakhouse in Disney Springs to check out its happy hour menu, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth stopping by for or should you skip this offering for something else? Find out!
Atmosphere
STK Steakhouse is an ultra-modern signature dining experience in Disney Springs. The 14,000-square-foot space is two stories and features “sleek ambient lighting, a DJ in the main dining room, an indoor fire pit lounge, and a stunning rooftop terrace.”
The exterior resembles a refurbished train station from the early 1900s, and the outside features some outdoor tables in case seating inside becomes limited.
The inside provides plenty of ambiance! Projecting elegance, the tables are all very inviting and get you pumped for your meal.
The downstairs dining room is adorned with floral fixtures and mood lighting, all accompanied by a bar area.
There’s also an upstairs indoor dining room with a second bar, which is considered a bit more casual and relaxed. There’s also the open patio dining area on the second floor.
But enough about the atmosphere — it’s all about the eats!
Menu
STK offers Brunch, Lunch, and Dinner services along with its Social Hour menu, which we tried during our most recent visit. The main menus are all pretty sizeable, offering plenty of steak, seafood, chicken, and said options (just to name a few) among a bevy of sides. Keep in mind: the prices can get pretty high here. Some steaks exceed well over $100! That’s where the Happy Hour Menu comes into play…
The Happy Hour menu is available Monday through Friday from 3 PM to 6:30 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 3 PM to 5:30 PM. The restaurant also offers a Late Night Happy Hour Sunday through Thursday from 10 PM to close.
When seated, we received the full dinner menu with a Happy Hour section. Of note, our server asked that there be no modifications to drinks during Happy Hour. It can be a busy time for the bartender, so they request no modifications.
Happy Hour beverages include “Signature Cocktails, Chimay Bottle, and Select Wine by the Glass (bonanza cabernet by caymus | justin rosé | caposaldo moscato). You’ll also find plenty of $3 eats like the Oysters on the Half Shell, $6 eats like the Short Rib Quesadilla and Lil’ Shroom Cheeseburger & Truffle Fries, $9 eats like the Japanese A5 Wagyu Taco and STK & Frites, and the $19 Happy Surf & Turf.
Enough talking about the food — let’s eat!
Eats
For our Happy Hour dining experience, we tried the Mushroom Arancini, Pastrami Salmon Cones, Japanese A5 Wagyu Taco, and the STK & Frites!
First up, we grabbed the Mushroom Arancini for $3…THREE DOLLARS! This is made with four mushroom arancini (rice balls), beautifully plated and topped with creamy cheese. They are deep-fried to a really nice crisp, and the mushroom gives them a great savoriness.
Steakhouses generally have a limited selection of vegetarian options, but we thought this was a great veggie alternative!
Next, we tried the STK & Frites for $9. This dish is served with three strips of filet mignon over fries with a bearnaise sauce.
This decadent offering really encapsulates how elevated this Happy Hour truly is. The filet is so tender, flavorful, and beautifully cooked that it doesn’t need the bearnaise, but — fortunately — that’s delicious, too! This was our FAVORITE thing we ate during the Happy Hour!
Next up, we tried the Japanese A5 Wagyu Tacos for $9. This dish includes two generously filled wagyu tacos topped with sour cream, pickled onions, red pepper, and garnished with root vegetable strips (our server said it was Yucca, but it doesn’t lend much in the way of flavor — just a fun look and texture).
WOW! It’s surprising to see A5 Wagyu on a Happy Hour menu and at THAT price, and we’re so glad they’re included! These tacos are delicious with a nice kick on top of the flavorful beef. BUT, if you really want to experience the flavor of A5 Wagyu, this probably wouldn’t be how you’d want to go about it because the toppings (especially the sour cream) are so plentiful that they overpower the meat somewhat. That said, it’s another impressive dish to level up your Happy Hour!
Finally, we ordered the Pastrami Salmon Cones for $6. These cones are filmed with something akin to a salmon mousse with bits of salmon and pastrami. We really weren’t sure what to expect here, but it was like a little artisanal dish. The filling wasn’t as light as a mousse, as you do get a few chunks of salmon — which is why it’s such a weird mind trick when you taste pastrami instead! It’s different with each bite.
These little cones feature plenty of mystery bites (will you taste salmon or pastrami?) and they’re packed with flavor, but for a night out with friends, these are too small. You can get a lot more bang for your buck with the other items we tried.
We also want to note that you can also get a Lil BRG (wagyu beef, special sauce, sesame seed bun) with Truffle Fries for $6 during Happy Hour. The appetizer portion of Lil BRGs is $29 per the printed menu we received (online, the price is listed at $19, so I would trust the paper one over the online). You can check out our review HERE!
Drinks
We also got the Guava Berry Kiss cocktail for $9! This drink is regularly priced at $23, so this is a massive discount! The drink is made with Hendrick’s gin, strawberry, reàl guava, and fresh lime. This looks like your basic pink drink, but it’s so not. Even though the flavors aren’t complex, the reàl guava elevates it into something unique. The bright strawberry comes through well, and it’s all wonderfully fresh (you can see and taste the seeds from the strawberry puree). Both fruits nicely complement the floral notes of the gin.
Overall, this drink is nice and light, going down really easily — so remember to pace yourself!
Nosh or Not
Hit up STK’s Happy Hour if…
- Fine dining is on your to-do list.
- You’re an adventurous eater.
- You want the same STK quality but at a much cheaper rate.
You should skip STK’s Happy Hour if…
- You’re on a budget but want a more filling experience. You can easily order in bulk here, but without moderation, prices can still quickly add up.
- You’re more into theme park or fast food cuisine. The menu here is certainly more adventurous, and we could see it struggle a bit with picky eaters.
- You want the FULL STK experience. If you’re looking for that vibrant dinner setting, try back during the Late Night Happy Hour. Otherwise, expect something a bit more laid back.
Overall
You’re experiencing the terrific flavors of STK at some honestly great prices. And you could go about this in a few ways — just try a few things for light bites as you eat around a few Disney Springs spots, or purchase several items and make a meal of it with plates to share. Even if you just get a cocktail, we’re talking about a handcrafted cocktail for $9, when many pool bar drinks around Disney World run $16.50 – $18.50. It’s a “treat yo self” experience for far less than the usual “treat yo self” price.
