There are a lot of hidden food gems throughout Disney World, and you might just stumble across a few during your trip. Some of these gems are at Disney World Resorts, and you might not want to travel to another resort to try them out. If you’re staying at the hotel, there are some restaurants you won’t want to skip, and we found one of them.
We headed to Spyglass Grill at Caribbean Beach Resort to try out a few menu items, and we’re bringing a full review straight to you. If you’re staying at Caribbean Beach, do you need to try this spot? Let’s find out!
Atmosphere
Spyglass Grill is located to the side of the pool in the Trinidad section. It’s a small space with limited seating, but you can always get your meal to go to eat poolside or back in your room.
If you do choose to sit at the restaurant, there are large fans on top, and when we visited, we felt the cool air from the kitchen flow into the space. Looking for more tables? A few steps away, you can find two large picnic tables for larger groups or those who want a quieter spot. Guests can also purchase Resort Refillable Mugs here, or fill up the ones they previously purchased elsewhere.
While the space might be small, don’t knock it off your list quite yet. Let’s chat about the menu!
Menu
On the menu, you’ll find American favorites as well as some Caribbean-influenced options. It’s a quick-service restaurant where you can also place a mobile order. Breakfast is served from 7 AM to 11 AM, and lunch and dinner are from 11 AM to 10 PM.
We tried their lunch and dinner options today, and on the menu, we saw familiar quick-service options, such as chicken strips, burgers, and sandwiches, along with some unique dishes that we knew we had to try. There are even desserts, a kids’ menu, and plant-based options. You can grab specialty Joffrey’s Coffees here and hold an item from the bakery, too.
Enough about the menu, let’s eat!
Eats
First up, we had the Mojo Pork Tacos for $9.99. This dish comes with three tacos, topped with pickled vegetable slaw, cilantro-lime crema, cotija cheese, and pico de gallo, accompanied by a side. We were offered French fries!
This was so flavorful and juicy, and the coleslaw on top adds a fantastic crunch. They’re certainly very savory, and with three tacos, we think this is certainly shareable. Honestly, it totally blew us away, and we look forward to when we can get these again!
Then we had the Trinidad Crispy Yuca Bowl for $15.79. This plant-based meal features plant-based chorizo served over black beans, accompanied by pico de gallo and cilantro lime tofu crema.
This is HUGE, so it’s absolutely worth the price, and it’s also incredible! The Yucca fries were fantastically crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. The amazing toppings on top make the fries a little mushy in the middle, but in the best way. The vegan crumble has a little bit of spice to it, but not too much, and it was very enjoyable. We would get these again in a heartbeat, and think lots of people, even those who don’t eat vegan, would love it!
For dessert, we got the Lemon Meringue Croissant for $5.99. This snack is from the bakery case and is a butter croissant filled with lemon curd and topped with toasted meringue.
This is the perfect texture, like a lemon meringue pie. The filling itself is creamy, and isn’t too gelatin-like. Now, it is more of an artificial lemon taste, but we didn’t mind that.
We will admit that the croissant was a little chewy, but again, we weren’t put off by that! Again, it’s a great size, and we’d absolutely recommend!
Drinks
To drink, we grabbed the Guava Lemonade for $5.79. It’s made of Minute Maid Premium Lemonade and was a fun twist on the classic drink.
It has a fantastic guava taste to it but isn’t too tart, which we appreciated. Is it anything necessarily special? No, but we think it’s super refreshing on a hot day and we’d get it again.
Nosh or Not
You need to stop by Spyglass Grill if…
- You are staying at Caribbean Beach
- You want a quick-service option to grab while you’re staying at the resort
- You love dishes that are Caribbean-inspired and are looking for filling meals
You might want to skip if…
- You aren’t staying at Caribbean Beach and don’t want to go to the effort of travelling there
- You want a full-service, sit-down meal
- You don’t want to have to take your food somewhere else to get a covered table
Overall
We thought Spyglass Grill was a hidden gem for Disney World Resort quick-service restaurants! Our meals were big and filling, with great flavors, and there’s something on the menu the whole family should enjoy. While it can be a bit of a hassle to get to if you aren’t staying on property (you can take the Skyliner over if you know this is on your list!), for guests staying at the resort, we wouldn’t pass this up, especially on pool days or check in days.
While we’re still dreaming about our meal, make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more food reviews. We have all the details and news to make your next Disney vacation the best one yet, so make sure you’re staying up to date on everything new.
