Magic Kingdom is going through it right now.

Cinderella Castle
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is closed until 2026, Tom Sawyer Island is closed forever, and the Disney Villains are currently plotting their takeover. With all of these changes, we’re on the hunt for construction changes in the park, and we’ve found them!
Since Tom Sawyer Island, the Rivers of America, and the Liberty Belle all closed forever on July 7th, 2025, Magic Kingdom won’t be the same. Piston Peak, a Cars-inspired land, will be replacing these icons. While we are excited about this new land, we are not excited about the years and years of walls in our future. Unfortunately, the wall years have officially begun, but before we dive into that, we are excited to say that the Liberty Belle has been spotted!

We have been dying to know what happened to the beloved steamboat, and @bioreconstruct has found her! The Liberty Belle is currently staged in the Magic Kingdom service canal. It’s located behind Big Thunder Mountain, and as sad as this makes us, we’re happy to see her resting after over 50 years of service.

Now, back to the construction updates, our first thought was “walls…walls as far as the eye can see.” Starting in Liberty Square, the walls begin leading all the way up to the Haunted Mansion, cutting off part of the attraction’s queue.

Walls near the Haunted Mansion
The lines for the Haunted Mansion were sneaking past these walls, even stretching into Frontierland at one point in the day. The walls continued down into the Liberty Belle loading dock.

So. Many. Walls.
Once you get to the dock, there are walls and shrubbery to make it clear this area is formally closed off. Honestly, we really wish they had left this open and tossed some tables in the area for a bit of shade.

Walls behind the loading dock
As you continue into Frontierland, the walls go until you hit the boardwalk that takes you along the water. Then, you finally have a break where you can still see what the island currently looks like.

The Frontierland cut off!
In this open section, you can see the 9th wonder of the world! The back sideeee offffff walllssssss! (Get? A Jungle Cruise joke? Nevermind.)

The back side of the walls!
You can really see just how far the walls stretch across Liberty Square from this angle.

We just aren’t fans
Once you get into Frontierland, the walls begin again, starting on the bridge leading to Big Thunder Mountain. You can also see the back side of these walls while the boardwalk is open.

Walls begin again!
You can still see the drop from Tiana’s Bayou Adventure on the other side of the bridge, so no worries there!

The other side of the wall!
The walls continue down in front of Big Thunder Mountain, totally blocking the view of Tom Sawyer Island.

In front of Big Thunder Mountain
You can see the backside of these walls from afar to give you an idea of how far they stretch. They cover the docking area for Tom Sawyer Island and the exit area.

A look from afar!
While we aren’t personally thrilled that these walls are most likely here for the next few years, we are excited about Piston Peak! The new area will bring two brand new attractions, a new character, shopping, and more. Disney has given us some good insights into what to expect when the new area finally opens.

Disney hasn’t shared an opening timeline for the new area, so get ready for Wall Disney World to be around for a while. As always, be sure to keep following DFB for more news and updates.

I hope they will find a new and meaningful home for the Liberty Belle.
There will be more walls soon when they put in the gas station, Cars repair shop (with Cars Land merchandise) and Piston Peak tire shop between the Golden Horseshoe and Country Bear Jamboree. It will be a lot of walls.
