We need to talk about overpriced food in EPCOT.
We love a good snack run just as much as the next Disney fan, but lately we’ve seen a frustrating trend pop up—Disney adults shelling out way too much cash for food items that have cheaper (and sometimes better) alternatives just steps away. You don’t have to empty your wallet to get your fish and chips fix. Today we’re calling it out, especially in EPCOT’s UK Pavilion, where some folks are overpaying big time—and don’t even realize it. Here’s what you should be doing instead.
Dropping Big Bucks at Rose & Crown for Fish and Chips
Okay, this one hurts because yes, the Rose & Crown Pub is iconic. The waterfront view is great, and the vibes are cozy and classic. But if you’re rolling in just to order the Fish and Chips… we have to stop you right there.
The same style of crispy, golden fish served with thick-cut fries (sorry, “chips”) can be found right next door at Yorkshire County Fish Shop—for way less. We’re talking about nearly identical fish, fried fresh, for a fraction of the sit-down price. Plus, you don’t need to fight for a reservation. Grab a quick service portion, snag a bench by the water, and enjoy the same UK experience without draining your budget.
You’re paying for the setting at Rose & Crown, not the food. And unless you really need the indoor seating, it’s just not worth it.
Overpaying for Beer You Can Find at Your Grocery Store
We get it—grabbing a pint at an EPCOT pub feels like the right thing to do. You’re in the UK Pavilion, after all! But if you’re ordering a Guinness or a Bass Ale at Rose & Crown (or worse, from one of the pop-up carts in the area), you’re basically buying a six-pack one pint at a time.
These beers are widely available at any grocery store back home. There’s nothing “special” about them in the context of EPCOT besides the location. And while there’s nothing wrong with a casual drink in the park, it can be frustrating to spend $11-$14 for a pour that could cost under $4 at Publix.
If you’re looking to sip something interesting, go for the ciders or try one of the more unique seasonal pours that pop up during festivals. Otherwise, don’t get tricked into thinking the pub makes the beer taste better. It doesn’t.
So, What Should You Do Instead?
We’re not saying skip the UK Pavilion entirely (please don’t—it’s lovely). But don’t fall for the illusion that more expensive automatically means better or more authentic. There are smarter ways to snack around the World Showcase without draining your vacation budget.
Start paying attention to the snack hacks. The World Showcase is full of hidden gems that beat out the “obvious” picks. Need fish and chips? Yorkshire’s your go-to. Need a beer? Try something festival-exclusive or grab your favorite later at your resort (or even better, before you get to the park).
Disney adults, we love your passion. We are you. But let’s be smart about where the dollars go. This isn’t about skipping good food—it’s about skipping the overpriced versions of it when better, cheaper options are right in front of us. And if you do still want to sit down and splurge? No shame. Just know you’ve got options—and they might actually taste better, too.

Never had the fish and chips inside but at the fish shop it’s so overly battered and fried that I had to return it. It’s much better at raglan road.
I have only had Yorkshire’s once and it was a proper Fish and Chips. It was good.
We need to try Ragland Road.
My favorite of all time? Westminster Chippy in London. Now that is a proper fish and chips!
My late husband agreed to lunch at Rose & Crown primarily to have a draft Guinness with a Scotch egg and bangers and mash. Other than that one lunch, we got our fish and chips at either Yorkshire or Cooke’s in Disney Springs.
