There is LOTS of construction happening in Disney World right now! Progress is being made on the new Lakeshore Lodge being built by Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, work is being done in the former Muppets Courtyard to bring the new Monsters, Inc. Land to life in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, walls have gone up around the Rivers of America in preparation for the new Cars area coming to Magic Kingdom, and workers are hard at work on Pueblo Esperanza coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
We have been keeping an eye on the Pueblo Esperanza construction from inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom. So far, a lot has been demolished and leveled in preparation for a Tropical Americas-themed land. Now, we’re getting an even better look at what’s been happening at Animal Kingdom, thanks to Bioreconstruct.
Pueblo Esperanza is a NEW Tropical Americas-themed land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 2027. This new expansion will be an 11-acre land that will replace DinoLand, U.S.A. Pueblo Esperanza will be home to two signature attractions — an Encanto ride featuring the Madrigal family and a new Indiana Jones adventure ride! Additionally, it will be home to one of the largest quick-service restaurants in Disney World, a carousel ride, and a play area.
While there is still a lot of work to be done until this new land opens in 2027, @bioreconstruct just posted some fantastic photos of the construction progress from above! The first photo is a general overview of the area. In the bottom of the photo, you can spot The Boneyard play area and the construction walls that can be seen from inside the park. To the left is “Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond!” and to the right is the DINOSAUR ride building.
The next photo is looking at the construction site from the side. In this photo, DINOSAUR would be at the bottom of the photo. You can see lots of vehicles and work in progress.
You can even see that workers are adding in elevation change to this construction area. It is believed that this area will be home to the new Encanto ride coming to Pueblo Esperanza, as the Indiana Jones ride will be replacing DINOSAUR. At the top of the picture is the building for “Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond!” and the DINOSAUR ride building is in the bottom of the photo.
May as well take a look at it from one more angle! This photo is looking into Animal Kingdom. The walls at the top of the photo are the walls you can see from inside the park and the white roofs just beyond them is The Boneyard.
Additionally, they posted an aerial photo of the Imagineering offices at Animal Kingdom, along with models of exteriors to the left of the photo. The exterior models are “small sections of features of upcoming attractions.” Weathering is tested and color selections can be seen.
Like we said, Disney is still in the early stages of construction, but we always love taking a look at the progress! Closures for this construction is happening in phases. TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures at Animal Kingdom all permanently closed as of January 13th. The Boneyard play area will permanently closed on September 2nd, 2025. Closing dates for the rest of DinoLand, U.S.A. including DINOSAUR and Restaurantosaurus have not been announced yet. Although, Disney has stated in regard to DINOSAUR that “2025 is your year to visit before it goes extinct!”
