Change is in the air at both Disneyland and Disney World.
In Disney World, three new lands are coming to three parks, while Disneyland is seeing a lot of updates RIGHT NOW as part of its 70th Anniversary Celebration. One of the biggest Disneyland 70th Anniversary Celebration updates has been made to “it’s a small world,” which just debuted a new verse in both Disneyland AND Disney World. We visited Disney World this morning and rode “it’s a small world” to check it out.
Yep, when you ride “it’s a small world” on both coasts, you’ll get to hear the new verse. The original song was written by the late Richard and Robert Sherman, while the new verse was written by Richard Sherman before his passing. According to Disney, the update to the finale scene “is meant to add to the attraction’s legacy and further emphasize the song’s meaning.” Gregg Sherman, son of Richard Sherman said that the new verse celebrates “that there’s more that unites us than divides us, and reinforce the message of that song.
You can even watch a short film, “The Last Verse,” which celebrates the “timeless connection and hope” behind the classic song. If you want to listen to the new last verse outside the parks, the digital single of the new version of the song is now available, PLUS Disney has released the “it’s a small world” (70th Anniversary) special edition vinyl record. That’s currently available online at Disney Music Emporium.
You can check out the new verse below and watch our video to hear it:
“Mother Earth unites us in heart and mind
And the love we give makes us humankind
Through our vast, wondrous land
When we stand hand in hand
It’s a small world after all.”
Calling ALL fans of “it’s a small world” ride!! Can you spot the new verse? 😏 pic.twitter.com/VET5xfbmYe

But that’s not all because we also rode “it’s a small world” in Disneyland to hear the new verse, too. You know…we really like it!
So much is happening today at Disneyland today BUT have you noticed the new verse on the “it’s a small world” ride? The change is subtle but it’s there! 😏 pic.twitter.com/Pe0XBME4Fi

In Disneyland, this attraction was closed earlier this year to make way for even more changes — a whole new ride scene! Miguel and Dante from Pixar’s Coco have now been added to the attraction in the Mexico section! How cute are they?!
We also had the chance to get a sneak peek of the NEW Walt Disney — A Magical Life show at the Main Street Opera House. The show opened on July 17th and will be a rotating show along with Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. We loved seeing this new show and spending time in the gallery, taking in all the history.
In the lobby, you can get a close look at items including Walt’s 1955 Emmy award for the “Walt Disney’s Disneyland” TV show, his Presidential Medal of Freedom awarded by President Johnson in 1964, and the Walt Disney Commemorative Medal presented to Lillian Disney by President Nixon in 1969.
We’ll be on the lookout for more changes you need to know about in Disneyland and Disney World. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!

The Original was soo much better. Does anyone remember ???
I remember going to the World’s Fair and riding IT’s A Small World in the 60’s. Outside was a Parker Pen pavillion where you could sign up to get a pen pal. Mine was from Holland and we wrote to each other for many years. The song meant a lot to so many people. The new verse sums up what it was all about.
