An iconic Disney World restaurant made some changes to its menu! We always want you to have the most up-to-date information for your Disney World vacation, so we headed over to give these new items a try.
We recently stopped by Be Our Guest in Magic Kingdom to try out some new menu items. Be Our Guest has added a few brand-new items and made some tweaks to existing menu items. Of course, we had to stop by to check them out, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Are these menu changes for the better? Find out here!
Atmosphere
At Be Our Guest Restaurant, you get to dine INSIDE Belle and Beast’s castle! The restaurant serves French-inspired cuisine in a completely immersive setting. You will be dining in one of three themed dining areas: The Grand Ballroom, The West Wing, or The Rose Gallery.
Each dining area features gorgeous designs and hidden details from the Beauty and the Beast movie. From vaulted ceilings adorned with chandeliers to figures of Belle and Beast, there is so much to look at while dining here.
You might even spot Beast’s enchanted rose!
We highly recommend you take your time exploring this restaurant, there is so much to see!
Of course, while you are enjoying all the details, you will also need to decide what you want to dine on. Let’s take a look at what is on the menu!
Menu
Be Our Guest offers a prix fixe menu for both lunch and dinner. The meal costs $72 per adult and $43 per child. With the prix fixe meal, adults get one appetizer, one entree, and one dessert. Kids get to choose one appetizer, one entree, two sides, and one dessert. Starting with the adults, let’s take a look at the options for appetizers and entrees.
You can also choose to add some enhancements onto your meal. Then, you have three choices for dessert.
Kids have their own menu to select their appetizers and entrees from.
Along with their meal, kids will get to choose two sides and a dessert.
You can also choose to add-on a specialty beverage like a zero-proof cocktail or a signature non-alcoholic drink.
The menu also features specialty cocktails and private label champagne and wines.
You can also choose from sparkling drinks and wines.
Or you can also choose from a variety of beer and cider options.
Now that we have taken a look at the menu, let’s take a look at what we grabbed to eat and what has changed on the menu!
Eats
Like we mentioned before, Be Our Guest offers a prix fixe menu. You pay one price and get to choose an appetizer, entree, and dessert. There are additional enhancements and drinks you can add one as well. Both lunch and dinner cost the same, so no matter what time of day you are at Be Our Guest, you will be paying $72 per adult and $43 per child. We are here to check out some of the new menu items — as well as some menu items that got some updates!
Your meal starts off with bread that is served with butter and oil. The butter and oil had some parsley flakes in it that add a good flavor. There isn’t anything super special about it, but it is hard to complain about a piece of fluffy baguette. It has a slight crisp to the outside and a nice fluffiness on the inside. A great start to a French-inspired meal!
For our appetizer, we grabbed the French Onion Soup. This soup is made with rich beef broth, sherry wine, and swiss cheese. French Onion Soup was previously on the menu, however, the description got an update from gruyere cheese to Swiss cheese. Here’s the thing though, technically gruyere cheese is swiss cheese. We did confirm with our server that it is still being made the same, though. It is possible the description change might have happened to be more recognizable on the menu, but we don’t know for sure.
While the description might have changed, we are happy to report that this is still the classic French Onion Soup. It is cheesy with just the right amount of saltiness and creaminess to it. The broth is savory and flavorful, and the cheese is ooey and gooey. This soup can make your troubles melt away!
We also gave the new Blue Crab Bisque Soup a try. This soup replaced the Potato and Leek Soup on the menu. It is finished with brandy, crème fraîche, and chive oil. The portion is great for an appetizer, and you get a lump of blue crab in the middle.
We thought this soup has just the right amount of briny seafood flavor. The soup is so creamy, and we loved that it was a bit thicker than most soups. We were very impressed with this new soup, and while we are sad the Potato and Leek had to go, this is a wonderful replacement.
For our entree, we got the Steak Frites. This dish features slow-roasted butcher’s steak, house-cut french fries, and red wine sauce. Steak Frites was on the menu previously — and we were huge fans! — but it used to be served with a hollandaise sauce, so we had to see if the red wine sauce was an improvement or not.
The red wine sauce is tasty, but we prefer the hollandaise sauce that it used to be served with. The hollandaise sauce was creamy, and it added a bit more flavor to the dish. The red wine sauce makes this dish feel more upscale, but overall, we liked the hollandaise sauce better. This dish is still served with seasoned fries which are also very delicious.
Here’s a peek at the old Steak Frites with the hollandaise sauce, just so you can compare visually:
For dessert, we chose to try both the Crème Brûlée Tart and the Blooming Rose. These are both new desserts to the menu, so we had to give them a try! The Crème Brûlée Tart is made with orange custard, passion fruit meringue, and Chantilly cream. While we are a bit confused why they removed the Dessert Trio from the menu, we went into dessert with an open mind.
This tart is heavy on the citrusy, orange flavor. If you are looking for a classic Crème Brûlée, you will be a bit disappointed as this one is heavy on the orange. Now, we aren’t saying that we didn’t enjoy this dessert (spoiler alert, we did enjoy it and finished it all), but we kind of wish it was just a traditional Crème Brûlée. It has great flavors, but you will want to like citrus.
Finally, we finished off with The Blooming Rose. It is a chocolate cake topped with “The Grey Stuff.” The presentation is beautiful, but the taste did not impress us.
The bottom has a thin layer of chocolate cake that was very moist. The outside of the cake is coated with a milk chocolate that easily crumbles away when you break into it. Between the cake and the top, there are two layers of “Grey Stuff.” The first one was okay, but it wasn’t the consistency that we are used to. The second layer of “Grey Stuff” is a very gelatinous version that we weren’t fans of. Overall, we were disappointed in this dessert.
In addition to the items we ordered, the menu also added an Endive and Roquefort Cheese Salad. A few other menu items also got some changes. The Mixed Greens Salad changed from a goat cheese mousse and roasted tomato vinaigrette dressing to tomato, cucumber, and Dijon vinaigrette. As well, the Poulet Rouge Chicken was previously served with sweet potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and whole-grain mustard sauce. It is now served with roasted potatoes, stewed pepper pipérade, and sweet corn velouté.
Nosh or Not
This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…
- You want an immersive dining experience. Be Our Guest really transports you into the world of Beauty and the Beast. There are so many details, and we usually find ourselves sitting with our mouths wide open admiring the restaurant.
- You love the Beauty and the Beast movie. If you are a huge fan of Beauty and the Beast, we really think you should make Be Our Guest a must-stop.
- You are looking for French-inspired food in a highly themed restaurant. While this isn’t the best food you are going to find at Disney World, we left full, satisfied, and happy. If you love French-inspired food, this would be a great option for your next trip.
You should skip this Disney World spot if…
- You are looking for a quick meal. Dining at Be Our Guest will take a bit of time, and we also think you should leave some time to explore the restaurant. Definitely plan the time to enjoy your meal here!
- You are looking for a budget-friendly meal. This is not a good option if you are looking for an inexpensive meal. It is a prix fixe menu too, so you won’t be able to choose a less expensive option in hopes of making the meal less expensive.
- You are looking for a lighter meal. Your meal consists of an appetizer, entree, and dessert. Plus, you will find lots of cheese, butter, and carbs during your meal. You might consider planning some lighter activities after and not filling up on food before your meal here.
Overall
Overall, we were a bit disappointed in the menu changes. While nothing we had was bad, we don’t think most of the changes made the menu better. The one exception is the Blue Crab Bisque which we thought was delicious. We much preferred the hollandaise sauce on the Steak Frites, and the new desserts didn’t knock our socks off. While the French Onion Soup technically changed its description, it is the same soup as before, which we are happy about! We still really enjoyed our meal, but we are a bit confused by some of the menu changes.
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!

For me they ruined the meals when they went with the prix fixe menu and am I the only person who cannot abide the grey stuff? I would eat there again because I love the ambiance, the staff is wonderful, the food is good, but I want more selections. The price has gotten ridiculous as well and I’m very disappointed in the changes.
Regardless of the dining format, we have never snagged a table in the Rose Gallery. On all but one of our visits, we weren’t even allowed to walk through it, due to closure or a special event or I suppose possibly that it was just too crowded. Are there any DFB tips on getting seated in the Rose Gallery? Maybe now that it’s prix fixe all day, it’s easier to request a specific room when you check in?
You showed us the adult menu items and although high priced, seems ok – but $43 dollars for mac and cheese or chicken strips for kids? That seems “beastly” outrageous!!
This is CRAZY. BRING BACK SINGLE CREDIT BREAKFAST AND LUNCH
Sadly, the only tip we have is to ask the Cast Member when you check in. I’ve never had any issues walking into the Rose Gallery after my meal, personally, but I’ve never gone when it was closed off to guests.
Thanks, as always, Gigi! You’re the best!
Guessing they were trying to cut costs with the cheese switch, Gruyère is more expensive than plain Swiss.
I loved the dessert trio! And my kids loved painting the teacup.
Changes also to the kids menu and kids dessert. My boys loved painting the chip cup. The paint has been removed and the chip cup is filled with a heavier version of Grey stuff. Wish I had read that part before going. The menu used to include a charcuterie board for adults, but that is also gone. Unfortunately, this once must try restaurant will now be a skip.
