If you’re planning a trip to Disney World, you’re probably trying to figure out where to eat out of all the options. That’s what we’re here for! We like to go around trying all the different foods at Disney World, so we can tell you what’s worth it and what’s not.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom
We recently stopped by Harambe Market at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, a popular quick-service location at the park. We tried a few different things, and now we’re bringing you our full review!
Atmosphere
Harambe Market is an East African Marketplace located in the Africa area inside Animal Kingdom. You’ll find it close to the Kilimanjaro Safaris, and right next to the entrance to the Wildlife Express Train to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. It’s a quick service location, so a great option to get a quick meal or snack.

Harambe Market
The restaurant is popular, but never really too busy! Since it’s a quick-service spot, the food is a little cheaper than if you were to eat at a table-service restaurant. This makes it a great option for those not looking to take too much time eating or those hoping to stay on budget!
But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?!
Menu
The dining spot is open from 10:45 AM to 3:15 PM. The markets got some great options for meals, snacks, desserts, and drinks — we’re sure you’ll be intrigued by something. Harambe Market is known for its bowls! You can get a Chicken Rice Bowl or a Shrimp Rice Bowl. If you can’t decide, put them together for a Chicken Shrimp Rice Bowl. You’ll also find some salad options and a Beef and Lamb Kofta Pita. If you want something plant-based, the Impossible Kofta Pita is for you!

They have rice, chips, and fries as the sides for your meals. Got kids with you? They have kids’ chicken and shrimp rice bowls! They also have the classics for kids, chicken strips, and Uncrustables, if the bowls aren’t for them.

They have both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available at the location. The non-alcoholic Frozen Flamingo seems like a popular choice among guests. We also think there are some intriguing alcoholic beverages.

Lastly, if you’re looking for a dessert here, they’ve got it.
And now, onto the main event — the food!
Eats
First up, we had to grab the Chicken and Shrimp Rice Bowl for $15.99. This is chermoula-marinated chicken and peri peri-marinated shrimp on jollof rice, with kachumbari tomato salad and tzatziki sauce. This dish was amazing, we would 100% get this again! The chicken and shrimp worked together so well. The chicken and shrimp were both marinated, which elevated both their tastes to another level. Neither of the proteins was dry, despite our thinking that the chicken looked like it could be.

Chicken and Shrimp Rice Bowl
The jollof rice was also very good. It had a great flavor and a fluffy texture. Biting into the rice was so soft, which balanced the tenderness of the proteins.

This was so good!
The tzatziki sauce was needed for this dish! It just added to the already great flavor, and its cooler temperature balanced out the hot food. The veggies were very fresh, and the cucumbers added a great crunch to the rest of the dish.

You need to try this!
After that, we tried the Caesar Salad for $9.99. The salad was fresh romaine lettuce tossed in a house-made Caesar dressing, with tomato and grated Parmesan.

Caesar Salad!
To be honest, this was a big salad! You could definitely have this as its own dish if you wanted to. They had a protein option, which was a chicken Caesar salad — we’d probably get that instead. The lettuce was fresh and crunchy, and the croutons were very crunchy. There wasn’t too much dressing, so it didn’t make the salad soggy, which we liked.

It was a good salad
We also tried the Impossible™ Kofta Pita for $13.49. It was an Impossible™Kofta with a plant-based aioli, chermoula, and house-made chips.

Impossible Kofta Pita!
We found the first few bites a tad spicy, but then the more we got into it, the less there was. Don’t worry, it’s really not bad in terms of spiciness. The aioli sauce was a great addition, and gave it more flavor. The impossible kofta was too soft of a texture in our opinion, but it wasn’t bad.

Here it is!
On the flip side, we found the pita was way too hard. It was hard to bite into, and difficult to rip apart. In terms of taste, it was a fine dish. We would get the bowls over this, for sure. It also came with house-made chips, which were very crispy and delicious.

We probably wouldn’t get this one again
Drinks
To drink, we picked up the Frozen Flamingo for $6.49. It’s a non-alcoholic frozen concoction with flavors of strawberry and passion fruit.

Frozen Flamingo
This tasted like a frozen strawberry lemonade, and we loved it! You could taste the strawberry flavor very well — so this is for strawberry drink fans.

It melted fast!
It melted very fast in the sun, so about halfway through, it was juice. Even when we grabbed it, there was a lot of juice at the bottom of the drink. It could probably be a little more frozen or slushy, but regardless, it’s a great drink to get on a hot day!
Nosh or Not
This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…
- You want a protein bowl! This place has some amazing rice bowls with protein, and they’re at a decent price.
- You want a quick grab in Animal Kingdom! There are a few quick-service restaurants in Animal Kingdom, and this one is a good one to go to.
- You want to try something different! We think this spot offers food a little different than your usual Disney food.
You should skip this Disney World spot if…
- You are looking for something more familiar! The food here isn’t super picky-eater friendly.
- You want a top-tier quick-service dining spot! Like we said, Animal Kingdom has lots of dining options. There are some we find we like more than this one (like Flame Tree Barbecue and Satu’li Canteen).
Overall
Overall, we enjoyed the food and the vibe. We will be back there again for some more of those rice bowls. Of course, there are places we like more in Animal Kingdom for their wider range of options and/or indoor seating, but we were very surprised by our meal here!

Here’s our meal!

Ever since wdw got rid of my favorite AK restaurant, turning it into an open air bar and reservation only buffet, Harambe Market is my go-to place and it is fantastic! Themed. Very good food. Relaxing. I always get the kids meal chicken and rice or the chicken Caesar salad. Depends on how hungry I am! I highly recommend! Enjoy!!
I LOVE the Frozen Flamingo!!! Even if I’m not eating at Harambe Market, I’ll still stop by just for that drink. As a picky eater, I can see why people might skip this spot, but the kids chicken and rice bowl is a pretty simple yet delicious option.
