If you’re heading to Disney World today, we’ve got a word of warning for you!
It’s certainly no secret that the summertime can be extremely hot in Central Florida — but the National Weather Service issued a major heat risk warning for the area on July 18th, 2025, that you need to know about if you’ll be spending any time at Disney World.
Heads up if you’re heading to Disney World today — it’s a scorcher out there! The National Weather Service has issued a Level 3 (out of 4) Major Heat Risk warning for much of Central Florida.
This means that there is a Major Risk of heat-related illnesses for much of the population, especially those without effective cooling or hydration. In addition, there’s a warning that there is “little to no relief at night,” and that fans and open windows at night will not be enough — air conditioning is necessary.
The NWC recommends drinking plenty of water and wearing lightweight, light-colored clothing. Try to avoid doing outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day — head to lunch or an indoor ride if you’re at Disney World. Make sure you take breaks and stay out of the heat if you’re starting to feel its impacts.
Heat index values of up to 108 are expected, with hot temperatures and high humidity leading to heat-related illnesses. At Disney World, make sure you take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening, and take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
If you begin to feel faint at Disney World, look for a nearby Cast Member and take a seat. Unfortunately, getting heatstroke at Disney World is pretty common, and Cast Members are trained to get you assistance if you need it. It’s also a great time to take a midday nap back at your hotel!
If you’re heading to Disney World today, make sure you stay hydrated and cool! Take breaks in the air conditioning when you can and make sure you drink plenty of water. Sunscreen is a must as well — you don’t want to get a sunburn on your vacation.
We’ll be on the lookout for additional weather updates you need to know about at Disney World. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!
