I hate to be the one to break this to you, but if your favorite place to head to in Hollywood Studios is an indoor show where kids get to run around with their favorite Disney Jr. characters, you might have missed your chance.
Disney is working on a new transformation in Hollywood Studios, but did they just close an attraction without giving guests one last chance to see it?
Disney Jr. Play and Dance! closed on May 27th to welcome the temporary Get Animated! dance party for Cool Kid Summer, which was originally supposed to run till September 1st, 2025.
Changes are coming!
Get Animated! is a DJ-led dance party that takes place throughout the day. You can hang out and dance with characters like Timone, Vampirina, Pluto, Fancy Nancy, and Mickey from Roadster Racers.

Now, Get Animated! is being extended till September 24th, before the building is permanently closed on September 25th. Disney Jr. Play and Dance! doesn’t seem to be reopening…ever!

If you haven’t heard the news about Hollywood Studios, all of Animation Courtyard is being changed to The Magic of Disney Animation. This new space will let guests learn more about Disney animation with drawing classes, different animation departments represented, and an indoor playground (and I’m really looking forward to that indoor playground).

Get Animated! and Star Wars: Launch Bay will close on September 25th to make room for new experiences coming in 2026. However, don’t worry, The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure will remain open during the construction process.

Did you want to catch Disney Jr. Play and Dance! one more time? Right now, it doesn’t look like you’ll have a chance. The attraction is closing without giving guests one last chance to explore it.

In “The Magic of Disney Animation,” a new Disney Jr. show is set to debut, and although Disney has not released any details yet, I’m excited to see which characters will be returning. The space will also be home to numerous meet-and-greets, allowing for even more characters to join the lineup.
It’s always a sad day when a Disney attraction permemently closes but the promise of new experiences are on the horizon. Make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more!
