Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has long been the crown jewel of Walt Disney World hotels, known for its timeless Victorian elegance, sweeping views of the Seven Seas Lagoon, and unmatched proximity to Magic Kingdom.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
The Grand Floridian Resort saw a big upgrade in its rooms back in 2023. The rooms are themed after Mary Poppins Returns. What were once bland, outdated guest rooms have been transformed into sophisticated retreats that perfectly blend Victorian charm with modern flair — a true glow-up that lives up to the resort’s flagship status. From textured wall paneling and crown moldings to jewel-toned accents whispering subtle Mary Poppins magic, each detail reflects Imagineering’s dedication to elevating your stay with style and whimsy.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Room
This is what the rooms used to look like with very traditional style headboards and old carpet.

The old beds
The bathroom has a vanity with two sinks and a separate area for the toilet and shower. The gold tones and pastels continue into this room. With the lighted mirror, you are getting even more light to help brighten up the bathroom.

Just take a look at how dark the old bathroom was.

There is also a couch that converts into a daybed for even more sleeping space. Above the couch were some gorgeous watercolor paintings depicting a scene from the movie! The colors are light and airy, giving the area a more modern look.

Compared to the previous red couch and patterned drapes, we think this is a big upgrade.

The differences in the new rooms feel like night and day! With new floors, bright colors, and gold accents. We love seeing the transformation of these rooms. Take a look below for even more views of the upgrades.

Love the new look! Except for the rug under the beds. I think I’d be tripping or stubbing my toes on the edges!
What about the lobby of the GF, when will that be completed. Putting a bar in the lobby, what are they thinking? Not a great idea. Changes to the GF lobby have been regressions and are not progress, think about the orchestra on the second floor which has been gone for quite a while.
Very nice.
The “Victorian” and “Mary Poppins” influences are so subtle I am not even seeing them. Looks like a standard room should look to me. The only Disney hotels that look well themed and worth a first class rating are at Tokyo Disney. If I am paying for a first class hotel, I want real materials–marble, wood, brass, etc. Not man made fake/synthetic. I would also prefer actual watercolors, not the same prints that are in every room. I am not looking for MODERN, but looking for QUALITY I am paying for.
