Meeting characters in Disney World is part of the fun, and for many, those character interactions are even better than rides because we’re making lifetime memories.
We bet EVERYONE can remember the first time they met Mickey and Minnie, right? One of the BEST ways to meet characters in Disney World is by booking a character dining experience, and for many, a character breakfast is the perfect way to start a day in Disney World. Well, for those who love the Disney Jr. character breakfast at Hollywood and Vine in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we’ve got some bad news. That character breakfast is changing soon.
If you’ve ever had a meal at Hollywood and Vine, you might know that there are actually two character dining experiences available there. Breakfast is Disney Junior Play n’ Dine, which is a breakfast buffet with Disney Junior characters like Doc McStuffins, Fancy Nancy, and more.
Lunch and dinner is Minnie’s Seasonal Dining, which is a themed character dining experience to the season with Minnie, Mickey, Pluto, Goofy, and more. Disney recently revealed that breakfast will soon become Minnie’s Seasonal Dining, too, meaning that the Disney Junior Play n’ Dine will be going away.
This change starts on October 12th, so if you want to see the Disney Junior characters for breakfast, you’ll want to make a reservation for October 11th or earlier. Disney has not given details on why it’s making this change. However, a new Disney Jr. show is in the works for Hollywood Studios once Disney Jr. Play and Dance closes.
I’ve been to Hollywood and Vine for lunch, and the character experience with Minnie and all her friends is up there as one of my favorites. It’s likely that adding Minnie and her friends for breakfast might prove very popular, so you’ll want to jump on reservations for that quickly. Let’s face it, generally speaking, the character breakfasts and brunches in Disney World tend to be better (at least when it comes to food) than other character dining meals. You just can’t go wrong with breakfast foods, right? Plus there are a lot of us who book character breakfasts the day we leave Disney World just to get that one last little bit of magic in before returning to the real world (ew).

My Favorite is Definitely the Disney Junior Play n Dine. But now; I’m Sad, Gutted, and Heartbroken about the Hollywood and Vine Update because that features my favorite beloved character of all time “Doc McStuffins”. I did see that Doc McStuffins will Still be at the Disney Junior Jams (Halloween and Christmas) at Magic Kingdom this year, but hopefully, that doesn’t change.
Please Don’t Remove Doc McStuffins!
Our favortie character breakfast is at ‘Ohana with Stitch! But we love many. I feel bad for those who are losing this rare character meet & greet, but… I won’t lie that it will be easier to get my crew to this breakfast now. I loved getting to meet Doc McStuffins and the other characters who were there when we went, but there just wasn’t enough universal appeal to keep the gang together for breakfast with that line up. Plus. there are trips when we’ve missed Minnie’s seasonal dine because we just couldn’t work it in (too many other places are also only open for lunch and dinner!). This will make it easier to catch the seasonal events with Minnie and still hit all the other faves too. Hopefully the departing characters will pop up in other meet and greet locations at HS or around the resort, or at least at the new dance party.
