There might be no one more excited for Monsters, Inc. to come to Hollywood Studios than me. It’s been one of my favorite Pixar movies for a long time, and seeing it come to life and walking down the streets of Monstropolis is a dream come true.
While we’re many years off from being able to hop on the attractions and meet Mike and Sulley, we got a closer look at the space, and we’re screaming with excitement (see what I did there?).
Currently, it looks like most of the construction work is going towards the hanging door roller coaster. This area used to be a Cast Member parking lot, but is being used to expand the area, and Bioreconstruct on X has been able to get pictures!
They’re tearing up the ground both in the middle, where the building would be, and the outer perimeter. This area looks HUGE!
Here’s a great angle at it expanding from the original Muppets Courtyard. To the left of the white building are parts of Galaxy’s Edge.
Anything happening in the actual courtyard? No crazy updates here. It’s still very much Muppet themed (except for the Miss Piggy fountain, which they tore out very early in the process). A lot of the ground is being taken up and worked on.
MuppetVision is beautifully intact. This building will likely host the new show coming to the area, so we’re expecting minimal interior changes. Right now, Gonzo is still hanging off the clock tower, and the marquee sign still stands!
There’s no opening timeline on the land and beyond the idea of a show and the hanging door coaster, Disney hasn’t given us huge insight into what to expect. With Destination D23 around the corner, we’re hoping (okay, begging) that we’ll receive new concept art and details.

Finally, a -hoot I can understand. This is the area formerly known as Residential Street, Osborn family lights, and Lights, Cars, Action stunt arena leading back to Catastrophy Canyon. Now I can better understand the footprint area in relation to the entire property.
