Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is the busiest theme park in the world, offering a library of technologically advanced mega-attractions and timeless classics that have become traditions for millions.
However, over my years of visiting the Magic Kingdom, I’ve realized there are some rides in the park that have definitely outstayed their welcome, especially in their current state. Now, I’ll state that I’m sure there are those who love these rides, and in a vacuum, they do have some redeeming qualities, but not enough to tip the scales.
Magic Carpets of Aladdin
The Magic Carpets of Aladdin have been open since 2001, and the attraction has been relatively superfluous since that moment.
Sure, the ride vehicles and the theming are cute — Who doesn’t love a spitting camel? — but the overall cartoonish design doesn’t fit in Adventureland at all. Plus, the fact that the attraction was literally plopped into the middle of a busy thoroughfare, which often leads to massive bottlenecks, doesn’t help. On top of all of that, there are THREE other similar spinner attractions in the Magic Kingdom, making the ride redundant.
Tomorrowland Speedway
Across the park, the Tomorrowland Speedway has been a staple at the Magic Kingdom since the park opened in 1971.
However, much like its Disneyland counterpart, Autopia, the attraction seems woefully out of date in both theme and execution. The fact that it’s taking up a massive plot of land in Tomorrowland, which is in desperate need of redevelopment, doesn’t help. At the very least, a conversion to electric vehicles like those coming to the West Coast would be nice.
Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor
Remaining in Tomorrowland, we have the 2007 addition Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor.
While this show has always been cute, it’s feeling long in the tooth almost two decades into its run. Plus, it’s never truly fit into Tomorrowland to begin with. Furthermore, the attraction is soon to be overshadowed by the massive Monsters, Inc. Land coming to Hollywood Studios.
Peter Pan’s Flight
Okay, put down the pitchforks and hear me out. I don’t think that Disney should remove Peter Pan’s Flight from the Magic Kingdom entirely.
However, I do think that this legendary attraction could use some TLC. Specifically, some of the elements and effects featured in the new Tokyo DisneySea Peter Pan attraction. A slight modernization and refurbishment could do wonders for this long-running attraction.
While these Magic Kingdom rides definitely have their fans, their removal would help the park overall. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World takes.

I just wanted to try Peter pans flight last time we went in 2023 because the line wasn’t too long and it was night time but most of the time Peter Pan is a very long wait time and I was a little disappointed that the ride hasn’t been upkeeped. Like Disney Food Blog says here I agree it shouldn’t go but a cool upgrade would be neat. The ride vehicles also seemed a little worn out it made me nervous being up In the air. I personally probably won’t go on this ride again until they upgrade the safety features. Also I can’t wait to read AJs new book! I ordered it off of Amazon
Brian!!! You clearly need to be sprinkled with Pixie Dust IMMEDIATELY! Peter Pan’s Flight has consistently long wait times and confirm the love of this vintage attraction. The Lost Boys will be looking for you shortly…🤣
Well said, man!
