There are so many dining options in Downtown Disney at Disneyland, it can be hard to decide where to eat! Don’t worry — that’s why we’re here. We’ve eaten at every restaurant across Disneyland, so you know what’s worth the cost and what isn’t.
We headed to Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill & Patio at Downtown Disney to try their modern twist on fresh seafood with their New Orleans roots.
First up, we had the “Celebration Special” French 70 for $17. It’s made with Empress Gin, Prosecco, Lemon Juice, and Lavender Simple Syrup.
The main flavor from the drink came from the gin, so it’s a strong one! There were hints of sweetness and floral lavender through each sip, and the prosecco added some nice bubbles to the drink. There was a lemon peel on top, so while we saw the lemon incorporated, the flavor didn’t really come through.
We started with the Coastal Seafood Martini for $20. This “martini” has Blue Crab, Crawfish Tails, and Gulf Shrimp tossed with Red Onion, Bell Peppers, Jalapeño, Cilantro, and Fresh Lime.
All of the seafood was fresh with vibrant flavors, and our reporter said the crab was their favorite. While there are bites of jalapeno within, overall, the spice flavor was light and really allowed the seafood to shine. The tortilla chips that came with it were warm and salty, which made for a beautiful combination.
Then we had the Loaded Tots, which are Crispy Tots topped with Slow Cooked Chili, Apple-Wood Smoked Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Green Onion, Chipotle drizzle, and Cilantro Lime Crema for $18.
Who doesn’t love loaded tator tots? They were rich and savory and full of meaty flavors from the chili and bacon. The chili had a little bit of kick, which we could taste in every bite, and the chiptole drizzle on top added the spice that we love. We loved the bites that had a bit of sweet and savory on them from the bacon, and the cilantro lime creme added a creamy and refreshing flavor on top.
Finally, we finished with the Beignet Quartet for $21. It’s a sample of four Glazed Beignets with flavors including Bananas Foster, Strawberry, Churro, and Simply Glazed.
If you’ve been following Disney Food Blog for a while, you know what we LOVE our beignets, and these were no exceptions. Our favorite was the banana foster, which has a light banana taste with hints of caramel and vanilla throughout. The churro and glazed ones were good, but they weren’t incredible standouts for us. For those who love the classic flavors, they’ll want to stick with those. The strawberry one was a bit too sweet and artificial for us, but we enjoyed trying every flavor.
Overall, we really enjoyed our visit to the Jazz Kitchen, and when we need that fresh seafood and killer tator tots, we know where to go. Make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more food reviews for your Disney trips.
