We’re always on the lookout for new clues about what Disney is working on. From aerial pictures to financial meetings, if Disney has their name on it, we’re probably looking into it.
One of the ways we do this is by reviewing the permits filed by the company. These have helped us learn about project timelines and what’s happening behind the construction walls. Recently, Disney filed another permit, which suggests a new project is on its way.
Disney filed a new permit for the Galactic Starcruiser for “general construction.”
In case you missed it, the fully immersive Star Wars hotel, which was open from early 2022 to 2023, is being turned into offices for Disney Imagineering. The building is close to Hollywood Studios and will be a hub for new projects in the works for Disney Parks.
Although this was mentioned in January 2025, we hadn’t received any updates on this until now, with the new “general construction” permit.
There are several major Disney World projects currently underway, and it’s easy to see why they would need a new office space to manage them all. In the Magic Kingdom, a Cars expansion, Piston Peak, is coming to the former site of Tom Sawyer Island…
…and Villains Land will be behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

The new Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom will feature fan-favorite Disney Villains from popular Walt Disney Animation Studios films and two new attractions.
In Hollywood Studios itself, we’ve been looking forward to the Monsters, Inc. land taking over the Muppets Courtyard (okay, well, we aren’t entirely happy about that).
The hanging door roller coaster looks like one of the neatest things we’ve seen. It looks just like the movie.
Animation Courtyard is also being transformed into the Magic of Disney Animation, featuring drawing classes, an indoor playground, and lots of character meet-and-greets.
We can’t forget about Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets! Aerosmith is moving out and welcoming in our favorite Muppet characters, who have purchased G-Force Records and need to help Electric Mayhem get to their next concert.
Animal Kingdom is also getting a new Tropical Americas themed area, Pueblo Esperanza, filled with Encanto, Indiana Jones, and more.

A new attraction themed after the Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Encanto” follows Antonio the day after he received his magical gift – the ability to communicate with animals and is situated in the new Tropical Americas land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
While we’re sad to say our official goodbyes to the Galactic Starcruiser, we’re ready for the future of Disney Parks and can’t wait to explore these projects ourselves. Make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more.

Yeah. Disney went dumb and built a hotel for maybe 1% of their followers and only 0.025% could afford it. Same CEO as Cracker Barrel?
I know that towards the end of the Galactic Starcruiser they offered discounts to DVC members, maybe they should have expanded that to Disney+ Subscribers? I do applaud Disney for the attempt, but the ‘target audience’ was very small. Star Wars fans that want to LARP, in the Sequel trilogy era, and have about $4000 to $5000 grand set aside for a 3-day trip.
I wanted to experience galactic star cruiser but it was out of my league. Hopefully in the future they will come up with something else, like a villains resort perhaps????? That’s my wish!!!
Sadly, Disney is leaving a lot of money on the table here. I would love to stay in a Star Wars themed hotel (even paying deluxe prices for a night or two just to experience it), but I don’t feel the need to dress up and play pretend. Just use it as originally designed and make it a hotel! A lot of folks would book it, and Disney could recoup some of their losses – unless said losses are part of Disney’s tax strategy, that is!
