Some exciting projects are underway in Disney World, and we can’t wait to explore them all!
From the Monsters, Inc.-themed land coming to Hollywood Studios to the two new Cars attractions in Magic Kingdom, we’ve got some fun updates on the horizon for Disney fans. However, one of the most highly-anticipated offerings is the new Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom. And recently, we got some BIG news about what will be available there!
Back at the D23 event in 2024, Disney FINALLY announced the expansion that fans have been waiting for — a land dedicated entirely to the Disney Villains. It was revealed that this land will be built beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom Park, and it will pay homage to some fan-favorite characters.
We’ve already seen concept art for the land, and we know a little bit about what it will offer. There will be new dining and shopping available, as well as TWO major attractions in the space. It seriously looks incredible from the artwork!
Disney told us about their research trips and finding specific architecture to add to the theming of the land. They wanted certain elements to represent the villains throughout.
Disney Imagineers checked out details such as stained-glass windows and painted metals to determine how to bring the deep jewel tones of the animated villains to life in Villains Land.
They studied the Art Nouveau style, which was big in the late 1800s. Imagineers spoke with local professors and art and architectural historians to bring the details to life.
Imagineers loved the natural motifs and swirling designs, and how they reminded them of cursed magic stuck in time.
We also got ot hear from one of the creators who worked on the original villain designs like Gaston and Scar, and how he’s bringing those ideas to the new land.

In a statement about the land, Disney shared, “guests will be able to venture Beyond Big Thunder Mountain into an all-new land dedicated to Disney Villains. Inspired by the wicked characters fans know and loathe, the multi-acre expansion will include two major attractions, plus dining and shopping. Walt Disney Imagineering is pushing creative boundaries to dark and mysterious levels to bring this new, first-of-its-kind land to life.”
Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro said, “Be prepared, you poor unfortunate souls, it’s going to be a fearless new vision for what a Disney experience can be.” Preparations are already underway in Magic Kingdom for this major addition, and we can’t wait to learn more as we get closer to its opening date.

Sure looks like they were in Barcelona.
This is a land decades in the making!!!! Lets hope it does take years to build. Come on Disney, if Universal can build an entire NEW PARK in 18 months you can do the same.
