Staying hydrated during a Disney World vacation is incredibly important…but are you going about it the right way?
Whether you want to or not, chances are you’ll walk several miles each day when visiting Disney World. Depending on when you visit, those steps you put in could be taking place in some serious heat. While you’re sweating through your shirt on the way to the next restaurant or ride, you’ll want to stay hydrated. That’s where Liquid I.V. comes in — a hydration multiplier powder mix that helps your body absorb water faster than plain water. This popular health enhancement can be a great aid, but do you really need it during your Disney days? Let’s break down what’s inside, the pros and cons, and whether it’s worth packing in your park bag.
Liquid I.V. — which you can buy right now on Amazon — contains a bunch of salt, sugar, and vitamins. Each stick is packed with a ton of sodium, potassium, and glucose (sugar), with sodium being the primary ingredient. You’ll also find C and B vitamins. Altogether, these ingredients help your body retain fluids, absorb water when paired with electrolytes, restore muscle function, and maintain wellness. Special flavors also come with some natural flavoring to add some tartness.
So far, we know it’s not a phony product and actually works. Whether you’re trying to recover from a hangover or have had a bad spell of dehydration, Liquid I.V. actually does deliver faster than water alone.
These packs are also convenient and diverse. The single-serve packets are easy to throw in your park bag, and they come in fun flavors that make plain water taste better. You’ll also find blends like Energy (with caffeine), Sleep (with melatonin), and Immune Support. It’s also allergy-friendly, gluten-free, soy-free, and vegan — making it universally usable.
There are, however, some notable downsides. We already mentioned how salty each pack is, and if you’re not actually losing a lot of fluid (say, you’re just strolling through an air-conditioned building or chilling on Living with the Land), you probably don’t need it.
It’s also sugary and can cause energy crashes if you’re drinking it all day.
If you don’t feel like Liquid I.V. is a necessity, it’s also a sunk cost. For most Disney guests, plain water is enough. Electrolyte powders are mainly useful if you’re sweating hard, sick, or dehydrated from travel. And Disney LEGALLY has to offer free water, which you can find all over the Resort. If you bring your own bottle from home, you can fill up and never pay for a drink. Every quick-service restaurant offers free cups of ice water if you ask, and some other locations will often give you water too.
Still, it never hurts to have a few packs in case of an emergency. It all comes down to your packing preferences. We’ve been saved by Liquid I.V. before, and we’ve also been fine without it. If you’re interested in picking up a pack for yourself, click the link below!

Maybe not the Liquid I.V. brand itself, but any electrolyte drink, powder, or supplement is always a good idea in hot and/or humid weather.
I use Liquid IV all the time! They make a great selection of sugar free flavors (white peach is probably my favorite). I agree, they are best for the super hot sweaty days or when you’re just tired of drinking water.
