Okay, Disney adults, we know we’re all here because we love Disney and Disney World. At the same time, though, we do often have some complaints about visiting Disney World, and that’s okay — it’s allowed.
Sometimes, people just don’t want to deal with all the crowds. Of course, everyone complains about prices when they go up (and they do). Others complain about rides getting changes. However, fans have one huge beef with Disney World that we need to talk about: it’s about Annual Passes for folks outside of Florida. So let’s have a chat about it.
If you’re looking to buy an Annual Pass to Disney World, four options are available: Incredi-Pass, Sorcerer Pass, Pirate Pass, and Pixie Dust Pass. Disney also has a special payment plan available for Annual Passes…at least for those guests who live IN Florida. Those who live outside Florida don’t get to do a payment plan — they must pay in full when purchasing their passes.
So, that’s unfair to many fans right there. Basically, if you don’t live in Florida, you’re being punished for not living in Florida. Sorry, we can’t ALL live in Florida, am I right? But here’s what makes this even more of a problem. The ONLY pass non-Florida residents can buy is the Incredi-Pass, which is the most expensive Annual Pass available.
So those who don’t live in Florida are not only forced to pay for the most expensive pass if they want an Annual Pass, but they also can’t pay it over time like folks who live in Florida can do for all four Annual Pass options. Those who don’t live in Florida are likely those who use the pass the least amount of time, but they still have to pay for the most expensive pass and have to pay for it all at once.
To quote Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness, “that doesn’t seem fair.”
With all that being said, though, having an Annual Pass does come with some good perks beyond just getting us into the parks. The occasional freebies (like the magnets) are nice, and we like getting to try exclusive snacks. We also appreciate the discounts on food and merchandise, as well as hotel rooms, which help us stretch our dollars a little more.
Disney World Annual Passholders also get access to exclusive merchandise, discounts on special events, access to exclusive lounges, and more. We also get access to early ride previews on new rides. So, the purchase is worth it for most Disney adults — it’s just something you have to prepare for!

I think they should be more concerned that UNIVERSAL does allow non Florida residents to pay on an installment plan AND I think their perks are way better! I have both annual passes but Disney really needs to look closer at their competition- Universal is coming up fast and about to pass them up!!! Even for us die hard fans!
Been an annual passholder since was able to finally access it post pandemic and make 2 to 3 trips from North Dakota to WDW per year. More annoying to us is magnets only available onsite for a limited time. Seems they could all be mailed out to the Incredipass members for the amount we’re charged! .
YES! I admit – we will probably get at least one annual pass for our next trip, particularly if it pays for itself with a room discount that isn’t otherwise available (which is what happened with our last trip). And it will probably be the Incredi-pass (or similar pass) not just because we live out-of-state, but because that will provide the most flexibility for our 2 week trip. But it would be nice if Disney would offer a payment plan to us out-of-staters, even if the pass has to be completely paid off before we ever visit (which I imagine is one of the concerns/problems that they have selling to non-Floridians). As long as the clock doesn’t start ticking on the ticket year until the first use, I’d be good with it. And they’d probably sell a lot more annual passes to a lot more people who are hardly ever in the parks. That’s a lot of wins for Disney.
I am an Annual Passholder from Canada and Disney no longer mails the magnet outside the USA
Out o-of-state pass holders are also the red-headed stepchildren when it comes to the passholder magnets. We can’t spend the money and vacation time every time a magnet is released. Show us the love and at least give us the option to pay to have them shipped to us!
The magnet issue is my biggest issue! We get one magnet a year when we sign up and it’s the same one every year. Boring! We live in Illinois and still come 5 times a year, but somehow only seem to make it for one magnet event a year, if that. I agree, they should send the magnets out to passholders. They stopped sending out the newsletter so use that saved postage to send us the magnets.
Out of state people can buy a Sorcerer Pass also for less money- unless that option is only available for DVC members.
That option is only for DVC members.
