It’s no secret that Walt Disney World vacations are expensive. From tickets and accommodations to travel and dining expenses, it can be tempting to try to save as much as possible to make the whole experience more cost-effective. However, some perks might be worth the splurge.
There’s booking at a Deluxe Resort to take advantage of Extended Evening Hours, where on select nights each week, one of the parks stays open two hours past park close, or staying at a Value Resort like Art of Animation Resort or Pop Century Resort, the difference between a standard and preferred room is around a $25 up-charge, depending on the time of year. Then there’s the $185 Memory Maker package, a dream addition for those who want a large collection of professional photos documenting their trip, with a dash of Disney magic and pixie dust thrown in.
During your vacation to Disney World, you will make so many memories that you will want to last a lifetime. One of the best ways to remember all the fun you had on your trip is by taking pictures! Disney offers a package for you and your entire party to get all the pictures that you take with PhotoPass photographers across the resort, and it only costs $185!
Now, we are not saying $185 is nothing; every penny counts when budgeting for a trip to Disney World, but you can purchase Memory Maker, which is Disney’s all-inclusive photo package that lets you download all of the photos and videos taken of you and your family and friends during your vacation.
There are three Memory Maker options. The first is for $185, which is the one we recommend. This package must be purchased at least three days prior to your trip. It includes all PhotoPass photos and videos within 30 days of your selected date.
A List Of EVERY Disney PhotoPass Lens
If you forget to purchase Memory Maker in advance, no worries! It can still be purchased at the resort for $210, but buying it in advance will save you $25.
If you are not visiting Disney World for a longer trip, there is also a Memory Maker One Day option for $75. This version allows you to download all the photos and videos on one selected day of your trip.
Memory Maker includes locations across all four theme parks, photos from over 40 character meet and greets, 15 attraction photo opportunities, and over 100 Disney Magic Shots, including photo effects, 360-degree capture cameras, and cameras at a bird’s-eye view! Plus, anyone linked to your family and friends list on your My Disney Experience app is able to take photos, up to 25 people, even though Memory Maker only needs to be purchased by one member of your party!
Once your vacation is over, you have 45 days to download all of your photos, giving you plenty of time!
Now, we do need to note one thing about Memory Maker: If you’re only interest is in on-ride photos, Memory Maker may not be necessary for you. Why? On-ride photos are included with the purchase of a Lightning Lane Multi Pass.
Memory Maker is a great way to ensure you remember your trip with your friends and family, and it only costs $185 for unlimited photos! We really like having Memory Maker because it forces us to slow down and take photos with our loved ones. And we don’t have to worry about pulling out our phones or worry about having someone in the group take the photo, so group photos are actually of the entire group. This memory maker also includes magic shot photos, which really just adds to the fun! Remember this tip, and make sure to purchase Memory Maker at least three days in advance! We used to always purchase MM, but on our last trip, I had an annual pass, so Photopass was included. The stand alone MM price has gone up so much, I don’t know if we would purchase it on our next trip separately. We would likely puchase LLs, so that would get us not only ride access but our ride photos. While we really enjoy the magic shots and videos, even from trip to trip we’ve wound up with a lot of the same magic shots and videos and not very much new or unique. And even though we stop and ask every photographer we can, we’ve rarely wound up with anything rare like we’ve seen online. Sometimes there are barely any photographers around, and while most whom we’ve interacted with have been great, some act like they don’t want to be bothered. I don’t know if we’ll buy it at a separate almost $200 price point (and probably will be $200 by our next trip).
I purchased individual pictures from Photopass and we picked out the best ones. We got 10-12 pictures ( many of them magic shots) and paid much less than the cost of a photopass. A Photopass might be worth it if you have kids, but for two adults, it was much more cost effective.
I always purchase MM. WDW is where we capture most of our family pictures. And I love that the attraction pictures are included in the price. Nothing like seeing the look on my face when riding Tron, LOL.
Do you know if MM is available for the After Hours Party?
The MM is simply great. It’s a good thing that I don’t have to worry about the price because it’s always included in our entry package. sometimes it is an advantage to be European. Then for 2445 euros ($2700.00) you have a Parkhooper for 4 people and 14 days and also a memory maker.
I had a terrible time downloading the photos last time I purchased Mm. And with the price increases I probably won’t do it again.
I love the MM. For my 50th birthday, I made sure I had it and one of the photographers did a series of my daughter and I releasing a balloon for my mom (it would have been her 80th birthday the same day). I have those memories now forever and the fact that a cast member took so much time with us, and even stopped for a moment to let us get ourselves together with pressure was wonderful.
We purchased mm on our last trip. My only complaint was I did not use it enough. We should have gotten way more photos. I can look back and see photos of my grand daughter when she was six. Well worth the money.
