When you’re on vacation, you’re probably not going to want to get up super early…unless, of course, you’re in Disney World.
We all know that regular rules don’t apply in Disney World, and getting up early is PART of the experience. That’s because we’re all about that rope drop, but if you’re driving to the parks or taking the Monorail for any reason, you’ll want to be even earlier. We’ve learned that 7:30 AM is the PERFECT time to arrive at the Transportation and Ticket Center in Disney World.
Here’s why you want to be at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) so early, although the parks don’t open until later. If you arrive at the TTC more than 30 minutes before park opening, you’re going to find that the adage “the early bird gets the worm” is true. Why? Because one, you’re going to find a MUCH better parking spot that’s closer to transportation. That’s because you’re getting there before everyone else.
If you are arriving at the TTC, you’ll go through security there, rather than at the parks. You’ll find the experience is MUCH improved if you arrive on or before 7:30 AM. The lines are shorter and you’ll get through security a lot faster. That means you’re headed to the parks faster, too, ahead of rope drop.
When it’s time to catch that Monorail or Ferry, you’ll also find shorter lines for transportation. Again, this is going to speed up the process of you getting to the park quickly, putting you closer to the front of the line for rope drop. It’s a win-win-win!
Just a note, too. When we talk about park opening, we’re not referring to early entry, although if you arrive at the TTC before early entry, you’ll be in that sweet spot where everything moves quickly, too. So you’ll want to set that alarm and get up and get going to beat the crowds. Trust us…it’s totally worth it.

I don’t care what’s happening. I’m not getting up at the crack of dawn! I’m on vacation! There’s a LOT more to do at wdw than gallop to a rope drop! Trust me! It is NOT totally worth it! Considering how much one pays for a vacation…. anywhere but especially wdw….I want to not only enjoy a relaxing, stress free, take it easy vacation but also experience ALL that wdw is and created! Watching the wdw channel, a leisurely breakfast, a dip in the pool, a game of mini golf, horseback riding, boat rides, delicious lunches someplace special….things I don’t have time or energy to do at home with my crazy work schedule. And if you slow down, you have more energy PLUS what they don’t tell you is that skipping the morning rush means that, when you are ready to go to a park, you’ve missed the herd pushing free for all at your choice of transportation and can enjoy a less crowded , shorter line wherever you’re heading!
Wow, someone’s a little upset with the topic(Norma). Relax, it was just a suggestion. A lot of exclamation points there. As the article indicated, for those ‘who want to do rope drop’ and want to take advantage of the less rushed crowd. We are DVC & AP members and I will have to agree somewhat with the information. At times however even though you arrive early you may get directed to a pretty distant area along the perimeter. It’s not a guarantee that you’ll get up close, even arriving earlier. But your chances are higher. We have fun doing rope drop once and awhile.
Doing everything that the Resort has to offer often takes some early arrival. But like you Norma we enjoy getting up, having a coffee and taking the time to relax. But there are those days we’re like hey let’s get in early. It’s all on what each individual is after. But either way enjoy the world Walt and Roy built.
