Stardust Racers in Epic Universe is set to reopen after its closure for a death investigation. The attraction is supposed to reopen for the first time today, October 4th, but as of 11:15 AM, it remains closed.
However, a change has now been made in the verbiage for the attraction’s safety measures, found in the Guide for Safety and Accessibility for the park that is important to note if you’re visiting soon. Let’s break down what those changes are and how they may affect your upcoming vacation.
The Guide for Safety and Accessibility states a few rules and regulations you need to know about if you’re someone with a physical disability or use a mobility device for any reason. Stated on page 7, the guide states that, “For most rides and attractions, you must be able to independently maintain an upright position, and brace and support your torso, neck, and head while absorbing sudden and dramatic movements throughout the experience.”
Additionally, you’ll want to pay close attention to the signage photos for each attraction, as one sign has now changed for a few attractions in the park. Below is a list of the Attraction Symbol Descriptions that affect those transferring from mobility devices.
The one most important, in this current instance, to note, is that “Guests using mobility devices must be able to walk independently” which is the SAME symbol as “Guests using mobility devices must transfer to the ride vehicle’s seating.” This essentially means that on attractions with both symbols, BOTH of these statements must be true for the guest to ride.
Universal has also updated the guide to list that Dragon Racer’s Rally, Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, and Stardust Racers are all the attractions that a guest must be able to transfer out of their mobility device and walk independently to the ride vehicle.
It’s also important to note that the wording for each of those three attractions also lists that, “You must be able to independently: (1) maintain an upright position, (2) support your torso, neck, and head while absorbing sudden and dramatic movements, and (3) brace your body with at least one natural upper extremity.”
This safety guide is readily available online for guests to peruse for free, and if you’re confused in the park, you can also politely ask a nearby Team Member.
