While Destination D23 — the year’s biggest Disney fan convention — happened in August, Disney saved some big news for September.
We love bringing you news about additions and fun Disney World changes. But, alas, the biggest news drop in September had more to do with a beloved Animal Kingdom land saying goodbye forever in 2026.
The extinction date has been set: DinoLand U.S.A in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is waving goodbye forever in February 2026..
The land is PERMANENTLY closing on February 2nd, 2025, meaning the last day to experience DINOSAUR, The Dino Institute Shop, Dino-Bites Snacks, Restaurantosaurus, and Restaurantosaurus Lounge is February 1st, 2026.
We had already seen several closures, including TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures in January 2025. Additionally, the Boneyard and the Dig Site play areas both permanently closed on September 2nd. Now, Disney World is finishing the job.
The land will give way to the NEW Pueblo Esperanza, a Tropical Americas-themed land featuring Indiana Jones and Encanto rides. The Indiana Jones ride will replace DINOSAUR and feature similar mechanics to that ride and the Indiana Jones Adventure ride in Disneyland (albeit with a unique story), and the Encanto section of the land will offer a new attraction and animal-themed carousel. It’s even been teased that we’ll be getting a brand new play area for small kids!
While we’re sad to see DinoLand go, we’re excited to experience the new Pueblo Esperanza — which is slated to open sometime in 2027. Until then, we’ll keep you posted on all the latest land updates, right here at DFB!

You have a typo “ The land is PERMANENTLY closing on February 2nd, 2025”. It should be 2026
Any word on if there will be a walk through “animals of South/Central America” trail similar to Pangani Forest and Maharaja Jungle?
Not happy.
