Have you ever dreamed of staying in Disney World forever?
©Disney
In our experience, a lot of Disney Adults have dreamed of getting “stuck” in Disney World. You’d never have to leave! You could keep eating those incredible snacks and meals! Plus, there would be fireworks every night. There are some places, though, we would really love to never get stuck in Disney, and we’re breaking down why!
We never thought we’d say this, but there are some places in Disney World we really don’t want to spend a ton of time at. Bear with us for a second before you get mad, though. It’s because you’re really not meant to spend a lot of time at these spots, and they can drive our anxieties sky high when we’re stuck there. We’re not just talking about crowds either; we’re talking on the rides!

Magic Kingdom crowds
The first place we would hate to get stuck? Right before the backwards launch on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind! If we’re being honest, getting stuck here is exactly what inspired this post. Recently, one of our reporters got stuck on the ride for 9 minutes, right before the backward launch.

Cosmic Rewind
The launch on this ride is one of our favorites in Disney World, but sitting in the dark waiting to jump back? Easily one of the most anxiety-inducing experiences we’ve ever had. The lights didn’t come on, and we can promise, her heart rate was sky high. Waiting for the ride vehicle to finally jump back is somewhere we never want to be waiting for a long time again.

Crowds at Cosmic Rewind
Next is Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! For similar reasons, we never want to be stopped on that drop-down into the bayou! We have been stalled at the top of this 50-foot drop, and it’s not something we would recommend to people.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure drop
Granted, when we were stuck up there, we were with folks who were scared of heights. (We’ll admit it, it was us.) Not only are you baking in the sun at the peak of the ride, you are seriously looking 50 feet down if you’re in that first row. We were only stuck for a few minutes, but our palms were sweating enough to fill the ride’s water capacity.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure!
You’re going to notice a pattern here, but our next spot we hope to not be stuck on is Pirates of the Caribbean’s drop! This drop, luckily, isn’t as big as Tiana’s, and it isn’t as fast as the Guardian’s launch. That being said, you do sit right below the camera that takes the on-ride photo. The flash is bright, blinding you, before you’re stuck sitting in the dark. It’s just not ideal.

Pirates of the Carribean
Similarly, Frozen Ever After’s drop is on this list. Not only are you stuck waiting for the ride to drop you roughly 28 feet, you’re sitting next to the giant, scary snowman, Marshmellow, who breathes smoke on you. But don’t worry, Marshmellow, when we talk about you, it’s all good things!

Frozen Ever After right before the drop!
Over in Hollywood Studios, we would be super thankful if we never had to be stuck in the escape pods on Rise of the Resistance again. Yes, we’ve experienced this one too! If you don’t know (big spoiler warning here), at the end of the ride, your ride vehicle ushers you into an escape pod, and you drop off the ship! It’s not a huge drop, we would call it more of a big bounce, but if you know it’s coming and you sit and wait for it… your stomach starts doing backflips.

Heading into the escape pod
Speaking of drops, we hope to never be stuck anywhere on the Tower of Terror. Literally anywhere, for every reason imaginable. We love it, but we have truly no desire to stay in the Twilight Zone.

Tower of Terror
Space Mountain is making our “never get stuck” list because, even if you aren’t scared of the dark, this ride can get creepy. Space Mountain is famous for its thrilling ride through the dark of space, but have you ever been stuck in space? We wouldn’t recommend it! The ride is pitch black, and the music and sound effects are really loud. This combo is thrilling when you zoom past, but if you’re sitting still, it’s pretty overstimulating. You also have no idea if you’re about to go down a drop because it’s so dark, so it’s just a lot of anxiety all around.

The Space Mountain queue
If you’re on the Haunted Mansion with a younger kid, there’s no good place to get stuck, but some spots are worse than others. One of the worst spots? Right next to Contance, the serial killer bride who has a very haunting voice and an axe. We can speak from experience that getting stuck next to her, with young kids, can be somewhat scarring for your ears and the child’s brain.

Finally, the drop on Expedition Everest deserves a shoutout. Not only do you go backward on this ride, you also run into a (spoiler) Yeti. This drop is roughly 80 feet, but it’s curved, so it doesn’t feel as intense as it could. That being said, if you get stuck right before the ride takes off, staring out over the park can be daunting. What’s even worse than that is getting stuck on the lift hill up to the ride. Getting stuck in the sun, overlooking all of Disney World, with no steps on either side, is horrifying, and we started sweating just thinking about it.

Expedition Everest
Rides can get stuck for different reasons, including issues with the track, assisting people getting on or off the ride, or even just the ride sensors acting up. There are tons of different reasons you might get stalled, but don’t worry! They’re always working to get it running again or to help get you off the ride. That being said, we do dream about getting stopped on a few attractions.

PeopleMover
The ones we want to stall on? The Peoplemover is first. It’s comfortable, covered, and has a nice vibe no matter what. The second is also somehow Expedition Everest, but specifically below the Yeti. It might scare the kids, but we want to see her up close and personal. (The Yeti’s informal name is Betty, just so you know.) We would also be happy to be trapped in Magic Kingdom after the park closes, but only if we get official confirmation that there won’t be any Kingdom Keepers activities.

At the end of the day, getting stuck at these spots really isn’t the end of the world. It just might feel incredibly stressful for the few minutes you’re sitting there, but at least you get a fun story out of it! Got stuck in Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid directly in front of Ursula. It’s a great song and animatronic but the loop gets pretty ridiculous while waiting 30 minutes to be evacuated.
Have also been stuck at Universal directly after experience the drop-track portion of Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure. It really makes you paranoid about whether the rest of the ride vehicles have also stopped.
I actually did get stuck on Tower of Terror when I was little. Grant it I loved this ride and I have been riding it since I was 3 years old. But when I was about 7 on of all days was Friday the 13th, right after the ride ends (spoilers) when you start to go backwards to leave the ride it stopped and had an error where it wouldn’t let us out. So it put us back on the ride. So we experienced the ride 3 times of the ups and downs and when we tried backing up again it still malfunctioned, and back in the ride. After the 3rd time it finally let us off. It developed a fear of rides in me for a while. I got over it about 11 years old. But still remember this when I ride it hoping that it won’t happen again.
Stopped for many minutes on the PeopleMover inside Space Mountain while the lights were on. A fabulous view of an incredibly intricate track and projections. And cool!
I got stopped on the Haunted Mansion right in the area where there are eyes all over. Not sure how long it was but felt like days before the ride started moving again. I started feeling very nervous even though I knew it wasn’t real. But I would not recommend it.
I was evacuated from the Peoplemover probably in the worst spot, between the Space Mountain lift hills. It was pretty straight forward but I felt bad for the cast member trying to shout the instructions to us over the noise.
