As people who go to Disney World nearly every day, we’re constantly searching for ways to save on our visits — whether they’re day trips for work or full-on vacations.
From hotel room discounts to ticket deals to savings on merchandise and dining, we’ve tried all the regular discounts before, and maybe you have as well. But one of our favorite tips requires a trip to Target!
For several years now we’ve been reminding you that if you have a Target REDCard, you can save 5% when purchasing Disney gift cards. You can purchase them in values from $25-$500, and that means that if you use your REDCard to get the maximum savings, you would be saving $25 total on that $500 gift card.
Now, one of the best strategies with this deal is to purchase multiple gift cards over time to save up for your trip. You can use them in the parks to get souvenirs, food, or pay for experiences. You can often use them to pay in the My Disney Experience or Disneyland apps as well!
But if you’re hoarding gift cards ahead of your trip, it can be difficult to keep track of all of them and the various balances on them as you use them. Have you ever just given up on using your gift cards when they only have a couple bucks left on them? I know I have, and I have left a TON of money on the table!
That’s where our biggest tip comes in! As you gather your gift cards, go to disneygiftcard.com/mycards/list-of-cards and start saving them to your account. From there, you can combine gift cards and name them — making it easier to keep track of what you’re spending.
On that website, you can view your balance for each card, assign it a name, and check your transaction history. Note that the maximum value for a Disney gift card is $1000, so if you’ve purchased cards totaling more than that amount, you’ll have to spread it over multiple cards.
So the next time you’re saving up for a Disney trip, use these tricks to get a head start on your budgeting!

I apply Disney gift cards to my hotel bill. I then charge all of my meals and purchases to my room. It seems easier than carrying a bunch of gift cards.
We have a Disney VIsa Card through Chase, which we use for all travel. Therefore, when we use that Disney VISA to pay for our airline tickets, we earn points that we can transfer to a Disney Redemption Card which can be used, like cash, in the parks.
