Nothing says “vacation disaster” like soggy socks in the middle of Magic Kingdom.
I’ve survived Disney rides, lines, and churro shortages—but soggy shoes? That’s a whole other story. Let’s be real — nothing ruins a day at Disney World faster than soggy socks. I’ve learned the hard way that the wrong shoes can turn a little Florida rain into a full-blown meltdown. So, I checked in with my team to find out which shoes actually survive a Disney downpour and you might be shocked to see which ones made the list!
Ahh the dreaded rainy day at Disney World has plagued your vacation and now we’d bet you’re wishing you had the proper footwear to put to the test. While you can’t stop the rain from rolling in, especially during that pesky hurricane season, there’s a good chance that it might not last for long or at least come in spurts. That’s why it’s important to really pay close attention to what you’ve packed to wear during your time at Disney World.

Feeling comfortable both when your feet are dry and when they’re wet is super important to pulling off a successful trip and we’ve tested TONS of shoes around the parks. We’ve compiled a list of our favorite shoes to see us through an entire visit (and did the hard work with the testing so you don’t have to) and these are the shoes that consistently rank our most reliable options.
Chaco Sandals
It might sound weird, but one of our favorite picks to wear in the rain is actually sandals! The Chaco Women’s Z/1 Classic Sandals are big winners with us. In our experience, they grip really well as opposed to most other flip-flops and dry fairly fast. This particular pair on Amazon comes in several different sizes and colors while featuring anti-stink properties for odor control and durable high-tensile webbing heel risers.
Crocs has a large fanbase, and if you’re a part of it, you won’t want to miss this next pick!
It’s hard to go wrong with Crocs Unisex-Adult Classic Clogs! These shoes are known for their personality and comfort, and this particular pair on Amazon comes in several different sizes and colors.
We’ve gone sandal-heavy so far, so why break the trend?
Chacos has made our list for the second time and these won’t let you down either! The Chaco ZX/2 Cloud Outdoor Sandal is perfect for when you need something that won’t leave you feeling like your lugging around clown shoes when they’re wet, AND can dry out easily.
We’re also huge fans of the HOKA Clifton 10s!
These shoes have saved our feet in Disney World’s parks time and time again! They’re super spongey on to the feel yet somehow keep a low profile and aren’t heavy even when they’re sopping wet. Plus they come in so many color combos to match your style you really can’t go wrong.
The last shoe we want to recommend isn’t a shoe at all!
Sometimes, you already have the perfect shoes and just want to protect them. In that case, we recommend Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers. These can go over your sneakers to protect them from rainfall and puddles while giving you solid slip resistance. You can pick up a pair on Amazon and choose from three different fits and seven different colors.

I’ve really struggled with finding the right shoes for D’world: they need to be able to be exposed to rain and watery walking surface but also all of that in 80F heat. Tall order! I tried some Sketchers shoes with a kind of open mesh but they were like strapping little ovens on my feet. I don’t live in a climate like central FL, so I couldn’t try them out before I went. So, those were a bit of a loss. I like Crocks for being super light, ventilated but with a real sole but the problem is with the sole – it feels like there’s no tread at all and I slip and slide around too much so I can’t wear those either. I haven’t heard of Cat & Jack (I guess the Berkenstock patent must have expired, because that style looks VERY familiar) but would be interested if the tread could keep me feeling safe from slipping.

To the Northerers, you always have to bring extra socks with you in the park.
